Have Your Say – Age Friendly Cotswolds

TAYCT is proud to be part of Age Friendly Cotswolds, a local partnership working to make the Cotswolds a better place to grow older.

As we age, things like getting out and about, staying connected with others, or finding the right support can become more challenging – particularly in rural communities. At the same time, many people want to remain active, independent, and involved in shaping the places where they live.

That's why we're asking for your help.

This survey is an opportunity for us to listen to older people living in Tetbury and better understand what matters most to you. Your experiences, ideas, and insights will help shape future activities, services, and support across our communities.

🎉 Celebrating Volunteers' Week 🎉

As we mark Volunteers' Week, we'd like to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who make our Friendship Café such a special place.

Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to give their time help create a warm and welcoming environment where people can connect, share stories, and build friendships.

Whether they're setting up, collecting milk, serving refreshments, chatting with guests, washing up, or cleaning out 'Urnie', every contribution makes a difference.

Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do, and we are so grateful for the care, compassion, and positivity they bring to the Friendship Café each week.

We don't just celebrate our volunteers this week — we celebrate them every week for the great work they do and the difference they make in our community. 💙

Thank you for everything you do. Your support helps strengthen our community and brighten the lives of so many people.
Please join us in celebrating our amazing volunteers during Volunteers' Week! 💙

Last week at the Friendship Café, we held a cake sale and raised an incredible £136.84 for the Stroke Association – an amazing amount to raise in just two hours!

We were also delighted to welcome Kate Holland, Community Support Officer – Active Cotswold, from Cotswold District Council, who led the group in some much needed resistance band exercises. They certainly helped us work off some of the delicious cake that had been enjoyed!

For those who preferred a quieter activity, there was plenty of concentration and teamwork on display as members worked together to complete a jigsaw puzzle.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the cake sale and helped make the morning such a success.

There are just 4 weeks left of this fantastic offering at The Dolphins Hall.

Join Allsorts every Tuesday after school for a relaxed Stay & Play session for children aged 5–11. Head down after school pick-up for a chance to play, unwind, and connect with others. Enjoy a cuppa while your child has the space to decompress from the school day in a supportive, welcoming environment.
It's a wonderful opportunity for children to relax, make friends, and enjoy some free play, while parents and carers can take a moment to recharge too.

They would love to see you there!

Another fantastic half term event on The Rec!
(despite the rains best attempts to ruin it)

We were so pleased to welcome more than 60 children and their families to our community play session, and what a wonderful day it was.

The highlight for many was a visit from The Good Day Farm - On Tour, who brought along a fantastic range of farm animals for the children to meet. From feeding and grooming to cuddling some very friendly animals, there were smiles everywhere you looked!
Alongside the farm animals, children enjoyed our usual play equipment, games and snacks, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to play, explore and spend time together. We ran a morning session for younger children and their families, followed by an afternoon session for our secondary-aged young people, and it was lovely to see so many people making the most of the day.

Seeing children laughing, trying new experiences, building confidence and creating happy memories with friends and family is exactly why we do what we do. Days like these remind us how special our community is and how important it is to create spaces where everyone feels welcome and connected.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the sessions and helped make the day so special 🐐

We are very excited to announce that The Good Day Farm - On tour will be visiting us this half term. We will be on The Rec on Friday 29th May 10am-12pm and the animals from The Farm will be there for cuddles and the opportunity to help with feeding from 10:30am.

* TAYCT will not be responsible for any children that are not accompanied by an adult and no children unsupervised will be allowed access to the farm activity.
Can't wait to see you all there!!

Today, some of the Friendship Café members enjoyed a wonderful seasonal sensory guided walk at Westonbirt Arboretum, led by Mandy - Community Coordinator, as part of the Branching Out Programme.

Over the last few weeks at the Friendship Cafe we have taken part in a range of activities designed to encourage connection with nature and wellbeing. The guided walk was a lovely way to reflect on everything the group has experienced together, taking in the sights, sounds, textures, and scents of Westonbirt Arboretum in the beautiful spring surroundings.

A huge thank you to Mandy for her encouragement, enthusiasm, and sharing her bounty of knowledge, everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 🌿🍃😊

We are incredibly proud to have TAYCT recognised by our MP, Roz Savage MP , for the work we do supporting young people and strengthening our community here in Tetbury.
Roz kindly invited a group of us to Westminster for a visit — a fantastic opportunity to represent our town and share more about what’s happening locally.
We had a fascinating tour of the Palace of Westminster (full of history and amazing stories!) and spent time with Roz talking about the needs we’re seeing in Tetbury, as well as sharing our thoughts on her plans for a
It was a really special day, and we came away feeling inspired and proud to represent our community.

It was a lovely morning at the Friendship Café today! ☀️

Everyone had a wonderful time getting creative, whether it was experimenting with watercolours or sketching with pencil. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves, expressing their creativity, and producing some truly beautiful paintings and drawings.

A relaxed, friendly atmosphere, plenty of smiles, and lots of artistic talent on display, what more could you ask for?

Looking forward to the next one! Thank you Allan 🎨✨
