What should Tamworth town centre look and feel like in the future?
The draft Local Plan puts the town centre at the heart of Tamworth's future growth and regeneration.
The plan proposes:
ποΈ Making the town centre the primary focus for new retail, leisure and tourism development
ποΈ Continuing the regeneration of key areas including Gungate and Ankerside
π Bringing new homes into the town centre as part of mixed-use regeneration
π½οΈ Supporting food, drink, leisure, cultural and community uses
π Strengthening the evening economy
πΆ Improving connections between different parts of the town centre
The aim is to create a vibrant, mixed-use town centre that can adapt to changing shopping and leisure habits.

The town centre strategy focuses regeneration on Gungate and Ankerside, with Ankerside proposed as a mixed-use regeneration opportunity including homes, retail, leisure, food and drink, employment and community uses.
Following months of engagement, the draft Local Plan has reached its latest consultation stage. It will guide how land is used and developed across Tamworth up to 2043 β and this is your chance to have your say on the future of the borough.
