On a beautiful sunny Saturday 30 plus ladies met for a knit and natter and have produced some amazing gifts- thank you, plus a number of ladies came along to help sew up the many squares we have received over the last couple of months to make into blankets - thank you

Our first featured story is a lovely one — Swindon Big Knit Welcomes New Helping Hands from a Local Retirement Living Complex. Their enthusiasm, creativity and kindness are already making a wonderful difference, and we’re thrilled to have them as part of our crafting community.

Our Swindon Big Knit crafting sessions and meet‑ups are the perfect place to relax, chat, and make something wonderful alongside friendly faces. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter, a total beginner, or just fancy giving it a go, everyone is welcome.
We meet regularly across Swindon, and every stitch helps support our community projects — from cosy makes to creative fundraising ideas. It’s a lovely way to learn new skills, share inspiration, and be part of something that brings people together.

🧵 CALLING ALL SWINDON STITCHERS! 🧵

Do you have a passion for sewing? Do you love Swindon’s history? We need YOU to help bring the Victorian era to life!

Swindon Heritage Preservation is running a Victorian Costume Workshop to dress the Smith family — the newest residents of The Railway Village Museum on Faringdon Road.

The workshop will take place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th followed by 6 weeks to complete your work.

What’s happening?
We are partnering with Prime Theatre to introduce four brand-new characters to our immersive "Mrs. Smith" experience:
👨‍🔧 Robert (Engineer Supervisor)
👗 Caroline & Millie (The Smith daughters)
👦 Thomas (The 11-year-old son)

These costumes will be worn during live performances for schools and special shows at the Signal Festival (July) and Heritage Open Days (September)!

How can you help?
We are looking for volunteer sewers to help create authentic items for these characters.

Showcase your work: The finished clothes will be displayed in a special exhibition at The Carriage Works during the Easter holidays!
