Over the past two weeks I’ve had the pleasure of delivering two training and development sessions for the wonderful team at CLAPA supporting their peer supporters.

Session one focused on opening conversations, building trust and supporting people effectively. Session two explored navigating difficult conversations, maintaining healthy boundaries and prioritising volunteer wellbeing - topics chosen by the peer supporters themselves!

As a huge advocate for peer support these are some of my favourite sessions to deliver. Peer supporters bring something incredibly valuable that cannot be replicated through professional training alone: lived experience, genuine understanding, hope, and connection.

To do this role well (and sustainably!) peer supporters need opportunities to develop their skills, reflect on their role, understand boundaries and protect their own wellbeing. Investing in peer workers is not just about improving support for others. It is also about ensuring that those who give so much of themselves feel confident, supported and valued.

A huge thank you to CLAPA for inviting me back for a second year running. It is always a privilege to work alongside organisations that are so committed to supporting, developing and empowering their volunteers. I hope to support you again in the future

Neuro‑affirming words can shift shame into understanding, and survival into self‑compassion. They help us soften the stories we’ve carried for years.

Because the right words, at the right time, can change everything:

✨ Your experiences are real and valid.
✨ Your needs matter
✨There is space for you here

If you’re ready for more of that understanding and support, you can find out more about neuro coaching here:

What if the biggest barriers for struggling students isn't motivation… but safety, understanding, and unmet needs?

For many young people, learning becomes harder when their nervous system is overwhelmed, when environments feel unpredictable, or when difference is misunderstood instead of supported.

Struggling doesn’t mean failing.

It often means coping the best they can with what’s being asked of them.

✨ Safety before success
✨ Connection before correction
✨ Support that honours neurodiversity

What do you think creates the biggest barriers?

'Sometimes the “best” parenting advice… just doesn’t fit your child.

And when you’re raising a neurodivergent child, you can hear a lot of well‑meaning suggestions that don’t take their needs, nervous system, or way of experiencing the world into account.

Choosing to ignore that advice isn’t giving up, it’s tuning in.

It’s recognising that you are the expert in your child, and that connection matters more than conformity.

That confidence can take time. And it’s okay if you’re still finding your way.

What’s the “advice” you’ve felt most comfortable letting go of?

Date for your diary!

Join me on September 18th at 9am for a 2 hour workshop all about Hormones and ADHD.

Did you know that more than half (around 54%) of women with ADHD experience significant perimenopausal symptoms, compared to about 30% of women without ADHD. Showing just how closely hormones and brain function are linked.

You'll leave with a better understanding of the relationship between hormones and ADHD traits. What we can expect at different times of our lives and monthly cycle; and how we can support ourselves throughout.

"Such an informative and validating workshop. The perfect balance of the science and making it accessible to all. Opportunities to talk (or not) were thoughtful and supportive. Honestly, the best of these kind of workshops I have ever experienced, and as a former teacher I've been involved in a lot!"

The group will be small (maximum of 10 people) to allow this to be personalised, safe and neuroaffirming.

Sometimes it’s the smallest accommodations that make the biggest difference.

A quieter space.
More time.
Clearer instructions.
Permission to take a break.

These aren’t “extras” or unfair advantages, they’re what allow people to access learning, work, and life in a way that actually fits their nervous system.

Support is about removing unnecessary barriers so people can thrive as they are.

What accommodations have genuinely changed things for you; or for someone you support?

Online Workshop: Sensory-Based Coping for Neurodivergent Minds

Many neurodivergent people experience the world more intensely, more subtly, or just differently through their senses.

You might feel overwhelmed by noise, lighting, touch, or busy environments.

You might rely on movement, pressure, or familiar sensory input to feel grounded.

Or you might fluctuate, managing one moment and struggling the next.

This workshop creates space to properly explore that.

Rather than skimming over sensory differences, we will take time to gently explore each sensory system in depth, helping you understand:

✨What regulation feels like for you
✨What dysregulation looks and feels like in your body
✨How your sensory needs show up in everyday life
✨How to respond to those needs in a practical, compassionate way

You'll leave this workshop with a personalised and practical sensory coping plan.

Tickets are limited to allow this workshop to be personalised, safe and neuroaffirming.

If you'd like to join me, you can reserve your place here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sensory-based-coping-for-neurodivergent-minds-tickets-1988549080831

Are you always late, unable to track time or show up an hour early to compensate? Does your child seem to have no sense of urgency or how to organise their time?

Time blindness is common in ADHD and other neurodivergent profiles.

Here's more about what it is, why it happens and what helps...
