One week in to wall number three and despite fighting the elements over the past couple of days, we’ve made some huge progress on 🍓 Gareth Lye’s artwork!

Hasan Kamil and Fresh Creative Co. | 𝕄𝕦𝕣𝕒𝕝𝕤’s Philip Cheater have been at hand to assist with Gareth’s vision and it is starting to truly take shape. We will be back on Monday by Kardomah Café for another full weeks work. Keep your eyes peeled 🍌

Thanks again to the full support from Swansea Council and Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru who’s support has helped make this wall and the wider Muriau Mawr project possible.

Introducing the fantastic Zoë Power 🎨

For the fourth large scale mural of Muriau Mawr, we’re bringing the incredible Zoë Power to Swansea to transform a fantastic wall at Swansea Arena on Oystermouth Road! Swansea Building Society Arena

Zoë creates bold, joyful and vibrant work, from huge public murals to illustration and typography. Her work often explores connection, feminism and positive change, using art not just as decoration, but as a way to start conversations.

A perfect fit for this wall!

We recently brought together a brilliant group of women to explore ideas around music, women’s voices, Welsh language, culture and community. Those conversations will now help inspire Zoë’s design and what eventually lands on the wall.

A huge thank you to Swansea Arena for hosting the engagement session and to Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru and Swansea Council council for their continued support.

Now over to Zoë... we can’t wait to see what she comes back with! 👀🎨

The third Muriau Mawr mural is getting underway in Swansea city centre!

This time with incredible local artist Gareth Lye, who will be taking his insanely detailed acrylic paintings, which are often quite miniature, and turning one into a humongous mural!

The wall has had some much needed love over the last two days from Gareth, Hasan Kamil and Karim Kamil, with a good wash down, filler and some fresh coats of bright white, ready for the next instalment of the mural trail.

Situated just by the famous Kardomah Café, keep an eye on our socials or head into the city yourself to see the progress! 👀

This one is fully supported by Swansea Council, as well as Celf Cymru Arts, whose support spans the wider Muriau Mawr project. A huge thank you to both for making this all possible.

Passing Through Time // Process Film

From a hot pink wall to the finished piece…

A behind the scenes look at and bringing their Dylan Thomas inspired mural to life in the heart of Swansea city centre.

Beautifully captured and edited by James from , documenting the process, details and scale of the piece as it developed across the week.

It was an absolute pleasure having these two incredible artists in Swansea and watching their styles come together on such a prominent wall. Their contemporary interpretation of Dylan Thomas’s words has left a pretty special addition to the city.

This is the second of five large scale murals being created as part of Muriau Mawr, with the ideas behind the piece informed by our community engagement session at the Dylan Thomas Centre with .

A huge thank you again to for giving us such an incredible canvas, and to , and for helping make it happen.

In the Flow

Take a look at this selection of process shots captured by AKA Media , documenting the collaborative portrait piece by Krimsone and Kitsune - Jolien De Waele .

Painted on the former JT Morgan building, now home to elysium gallery, these images capture the journey from transforming the drab brick wall with the hottest pink you can buy, through to the sketching, paint mixing, working at height and the general hustle and bustle of creating artwork in a busy city centre.

As shared in a previous post, the piece is the artists’ interpretation of Dylan Thomas’s poetry, combining their surrealist visuals with his powerful words to create a contemporary take on his work.

It was an absolute pleasure to have these two incredible artists in Swansea for the week and to see them leave behind such a bold landmark artwork.

A huge thank you to elysium gallery for providing such an incredible space. Their newly opened gallery, studios and café are an absolute gem for Swansea city centre, and we feel privileged to have worked together to bring this piece to life.

Another huge thank you to Beacon Cymru Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru and Swansea Council for their support, and to the poetry community who attended the engagement sessions and helped generate ideas for the artists.

And here we have it, the finished mural by Belgian artist Kitsune - Jolien De Waele and Australian artist Krimsone

This is the second of five large scale murals to be completed in Swansea city centre as part of Muriau Mawr, a new mural trail celebrating creativity, community and culture across the city.

Travelling all the way from Australia, the artists transformed the former JT Morgan building, now home to the incredible studio, gallery and café at elysium gallery .

The mural was informed by a community engagement session delivered in collaboration with Zoe Gealy at the Dylan Thomas Centre, where local poets explored Dylan Thomas’s work. From those conversations, the artists created their own contemporary interpretation of his poetry.

The result is a vibrant artwork that brings a fresh perspective to one of Wales’ most celebrated poets and adds another landmark piece to Swansea city centre.

A huge thank you to Kitsune - Jolien De Waele and Krimsone for making the journey, all the lovely people who attended the engagement session and to Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru , Beacon Cymru and Swansea Council for their support in making this project possible.

Over the coming days we’ll be sharing more from this project, including process shots, video, and the story behind the motifs and symbolism within the piece, described by the artists themselves.

End of the week... but the start of something exciting in Swansea city centre! 🔥

If you’ve spotted us painting a certain wall hot pink on the former JT Morgan building, now home to elysium gallery , here’s why... 👀

Over the next week, we’re welcoming Krimsone and Kitsune - Jolien De Waele , two incredible artists who have travelled all the way from Australia to leave their mark on our little city by the beach.

I can’t wait to watch this mural progress over the weekend and into next week. If you’re passing through the city centre, keep an eye on the wall... it’s going to be a good one. ✨
