Made in Our Environment 🌿

Last week we held our second community engagement session. this one being for our upcoming nature-themed mural on Kings Lane in Swansea city centre, created by the incredible 🎨

We had such a brilliant evening discussing all things wild, beautiful, strange and important, exploring the animals, marine life, plant life and urban wildlife that make up Swansea’s unique biodiversity.

The ideas, stories and knowledge shared during the session will now help inspire the final mural design, which Curtis will transform into a huge-scale artwork in the city centre.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down, shared their expertise, passion and ideas. These conversations are such an important part of the process and it’s amazing seeing how much people care about the natural world around us 💚

ONER YARD PAINT JAM
Saturday 30th May // 12–4pm

To kick things off and tie in with the Scale-Up Initiative as part of the Muriau Mawr project, we’re inviting anyone into murals, street art or graffiti down to Oner Signs - Wales’ premier graffiti store, established in 1996 - for an afternoon of live painting, music and good vibes.

This is a chilled, open event — pop by, watch artists painting live, chat with local creatives and find out more about Muriau Mawr, the large-scale mural trail project taking shape over the summer and autumn.

SWANSEA ARTISTS WANTED 🎨
Ready to scale up your practice?

We’re looking for local artists who haven’t painted a mural before to join our Scale-Up initiative, part of Muria Mawr, Swansea’s growing mural trail.

Whether you’re a student, self-taught, or working in a studio, this is your chance to take your work from sketch or screen to large-scale public art. We welcome fine artists, designers, graffiti artists, illustrators, and tattooists, as long as your style can translate to brush, spray, or both.

Selected artists will be matched with experienced muralists and supported all the way through, from first ideas to the final piece on the wall. You’ll design and create your own mural right here in Swansea.

No mural experience? No problem. Full guidance is provided, just bring your ideas and ambition.

📍 Must be 16+ and based locally
📅 Deadline: Sunday 31st May 2026

Yesterday we kicked things off alongside Mioe Creative Productions CIC with our first community engagement session to generate ideas for a Swans heritage mural, set to be painted in the city centre as one of five major pieces.

What a genuinely lovely afternoon with an amazing group of people came together to share stories, spark ideas, and celebrate both art and football.

We were also joined by some fantastic special guests: Swans legend Alan Curtis, award-winning sports author Dave Brayley, and Richard Mylan from Grand Ambition Swansea.

It was brilliant to see such passion in the room, with everyone fully engaged and proudly sharing their thoughts about the club and what it means to them. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, we really appreciate it.

Now comes the challenge: transforming all of these incredible ideas into one large-scale mural that truly captures the essence of being a Swans fan… no pressure! 🎨⚽️

We are launching our first project Muriau Mawr, meaning Great Walls in Welsh!

One of the first of it’s kind in Wales, the artwork will be created within the city centre and you will be able to explore each piece following a dedicated mural trail!

Led by Hasan Kamil an experienced local artist with Mioe Creative Productions CIC running the community sessions to make sure the ideas come from you - the people who live here.
