Deadline extended 📢

There's still time to have your say on the future of health and wellbeing in Essex.

Residents of all ages, including young people and teenagers, are invited to help shape the Essex Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy for 2026 to 2029.

The strategy brings together the NHS, local councils, the police, other partners, and ourselves, and looks beyond healthcare to jobs, housing, education, transport and the environment.

We would like your views on four priorities for Essex 👇🏼

• Improving life chances for children and young people
• Helping more people into work and to stay in work
• Building healthy, resilient and connected communities
• Creating opportunities to improve health and reduce the impact of poor health

Have your say by Tuesday, February 10, 2026, by heading to the link in our bio 🔎

👉 Garden waste subscriptions open today for another year of collections from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

💚 The cost of an annual subscription remains at £55 for the first bin. This provides fortnightly collections all year round, with a break over Christmas and New Year. If you want an additional garden bin emptied, subscription is £30 per bin.

Your garden bin is for grass cuttings, weeds, dead flowers and plants, leaf-fall and hedge and shrub cuttings. Garden waste is sent for windrow composting at a nearby facility.

What you need to know if you want to renew or subscribe:

🌿 Subscribing online is easiest and will auto-renew next year, unless you cancel. Link in the comments!

🌿 If you subscribed online last year, you'll have payment taken and your subscription automatically renewed on or around 4 March, making the service seamless and hassle-free.

🌿 If you subscribed by phone or in person, you will need to take action to renew - if you don't want to renew online you can call us on 01376 552525. You can do this at any time - if you want to ensure there are no breaks in your collections, just make sure you do this by mid-March.

🌿 To make any changes, such as cancelling your subscription, cancelling auto-renewal or updating your card details, go to the link in the comments below. You will need to sign into Myaccount, go to the Waste Management Portal and make the changes.

Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone around a premises near Castle Hedingham, Essex, the 3km captive bird (monitoring) controlled zone has been revoked.

An AIPZ with mandatory housing measures is still in force across Suffolk to protect poultry & captive birds. This applies to all keepers of over 50 birds and all keepers who sell or give away eggs or poultry products (even if they keep fewer than 50 birds).

All bird keepers must continue to follow stringent biosecurity measures.

🔶Rogue Trader Alert 🔶
We are aware of rogue traders operating in Halstead and surrounding areas in North Essex. Initially they will post a leaflet through your door offering to clean gutters, do not engage with these people. The guise to clean gutters will then escalate to unnecessary roof repairs and more, causing huge emotional and financial distress. Please keep an eye out for friends, family or neighbours who may be vulnerable and easily targeted.
If looking for work to be done at home, make sure you do your research and speak to friends and family for recommendation or choose Buy With Confidence Trading Standards Approved business that will treat you honestly and fairly. The only approved business scheme owned and run by Trading Standards. Residents concerned about doorstep callers operating in their area can contact Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
