The Vale Family Hub is a social supermarket, Cafe and Family Hub set up to help people in North Dorset, who are struggling financially or just need a friendly welcoming space to relax and enjoy. For a weekly membership of £7members of The Vale Pantry will be able to choose a selection of food with a value of £25 - £50+ each week. Membership is limited to those on low incomes and struggling to manage financially. Our volunteers can also help people with signposts to different agencies for help with a range of issues such as debt, health, benefits, housing etc.

Gemma writes: "We don’t expect anyone to have to help us, and we know that times are difficult for everyone. (There was a little misunderstanding - we are looking for clothes for 14 years old girl not size 14 - preferably woman medium size please! We are really sorry for the inconvenience!)

We are reaching out to our wonderful community for some much-needed donations to help a young lady who is starting a new chapter in her life, quite literally from scratch.

She has recently moved in with family unexpectedly and, unfortunately, has very few personal belongings or clothing of her own. Although a bed has kindly been arranged for her, there are still many basic essentials needed to help her settle in and feel at home.

We are particularly looking for:
- Clothes (for a girl 14 years old) preferably women medium size
- Shoes (size 8)
- Toiletries and personal care items
- A chest of drawers and bedside table
- Bedding and towels
- A variety of clothing, especially warm winter clothes.

If you have anything in good condition that you no longer need, please consider donating. Even the smallest contribution could make a real difference and help someone feel a little more settled, comfortable and supported as she begins this new journey.
Every donation, no matter how small, is truly appreciated.

The first Family Fun Day in Sturminster Newton was a great success - over 340 of you attended during the course of the day! We were amazed and delighted that so many people came along to enjoy all the free activities and have detailed notes of what we learned from this inaugural event. With visitors coming from so many surrounding towns and villages, as well as from here in Sturminster, we know that next time we may be expecting many more of you.

Amongst the fun activities there was a 65ft battlezone, diddy cars, biscuit decorating and a fancy dress competition. There was a lot more on offer and all the children seemed to be having a wonderful time.

There was dedicated calm SEN room where children could be taken if they were overwhelmed. Noise cancelling headphones, weighted blankets and sensory toys were provided.

Our team of organisers would like to say a big thank you to the following people, in no particular order:

- SturAction who donated 60 pumpkins for carving
- Sturminster Newton United Football Club who let use their brilliant venue and helped with food preparation and clearing up
- Our overworked volunteers who helped set everything up and pack it all down again
- Dorset Council for funding the event
- Bounceabout - Bouncy Castle & Inflatable Hire who supplied the inflatables
- Stur the Cauldron for sharing our posts and helping hands
- Parents who stepped in to help on the day

But mostly to you all for coming and making it such a success. Thank you!
