🌞 Heatwave Reminder for Thursday 25th June 🌞

With temperatures expected to reach their highest tomorrow, we wanted to let everyone know that the café will still be open from 2:00pm–4:00pm on Thursday 25th June.

The good news is that the Arkell Centre has fantastic air conditioning, so you can enjoy a cool and comfortable space away from the heat.

However, please only attend if it is safe and comfortable for you to travel, as the weather is expected to be extremely hot.

Why not call in after school for a cold drink, some air conditioning, and there may even be a few ice lollies available! 🍦❄️

To help keep everyone safe and cool, there will be no outside play and no toast this week.

Please remember to stay hydrated, keep out of the sun where possible, and take care of yourselves and your families. 💙

📣 Well… here comes the post I’ve been putting off writing!
After 3½ years in Nailsworth, the time has come for me to spread my wings and head off on a new adventure.

When I first arrived, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Fast forward 3½ years and I’ve somehow managed to survive countless meetings, drink an alarming amount of tea and coffee, get lost on more than one occasion, and become part of a fantastic community. 🫂

It’s been a real privilege to support the people of Nailsworth. There have been highs, lows, challenges, successes, and the occasional day where I wondered if hiding under my desk was a viable career option! But through it all, I’ve made some wonderful memories.

This wasn’t an easy decision by any means. In fact, I’ve changed my mind about it several times over the last few months! But sometimes you know it’s time for a new chapter.
My last working day is Thursday 25th June… yes, THIS Thursday! (I know, I left it a bit late to tell some of you! 😅)

A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed me, supported me, challenged me, encouraged me, and occasionally kept me sane. Nailsworth has a very special community spirit, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience it firsthand.💚

I hope I’ve left behind a little legacy—if nothing else, perhaps a few useful ideas, some good memories, and proof that you can get through almost anything with enough tea and determination.

I’m sure the next person will bring fresh energy and brilliant new ideas, and I look forward to seeing all the great things that happen next.

Thank you, Nailsworth. It’s been a pleasure. ❤️

(And don’t worry, I’m not moving to the moon—you might still see me around!)

💚 The Community Food Pantry at The Arkell Centre is open until 5.30pm today (Thursday 28th May).

Everyone is very welcome.

🌟 Volunteers' Week 2026 🌟

This Volunteers' Week, we want to say a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who generously give their time to support our Community Café.

Without their commitment, enthusiasm, and kindness, the café simply wouldn't run as well as it does. Week after week, they turn up with smiles on their faces, make endless cups of tea and plates of toast, chat with visitors, lend a helping hand wherever it's needed, and help create the welcoming atmosphere that makes our café so special.

Their dedication makes a real difference to our community, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

To all our volunteers: thank you for your time, your energy, and your support. You are truly amazing, and we couldn't do it without you. ❤️

If you've ever thought about volunteering and would like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch to find out more about joining our fantastic team!

❤️☕🍞✨
