We also enjoyed some Carers Week events over in Merton last week, including our male carers day out!

We went on a nice walk around Cannizaro Park followed by lunch at The Hand in Hand Pub Wimbledon Village. We are thankful to have been given a generous donation by The WDNMBS to pay for the lunches this Carers Week 💜

Carers Week: Art showcase and buffet!

We celebrated the talent and creativity of carers who took part in our ‘Create’ art workshops earlier this year. The event featured a range of inspiring artwork, from indigo dying to pottery and collages. We heard from the carers who had created the pieces, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition, and of course the buffet lunch!

One Croydon carer had this to say, “I really enjoyed the buffet lunch on Wednesday. It was such a lovely event and I’m really grateful to all the staff at the carer’s centre for all their hard work. Please could you pass on my heartfelt thanks.” 💜

Croydon Council event during Carers Week 👇

Carers First attended Croydon’s carers marketplace where we gave a presentation about our service as well as hosting a stall and connecting with lots of carers throughout the day.

Sharing information, advice and offering support is so important, not just for Carers Week, but in every day life, and we're proud to be a part of that.

We are so grateful to have been able to offer so many wonderful events to carers this past Carers Week! Like our cream tea afternoon 🍵🍰

We were lucky to be joined by representatives from a number of local organisations who support carers in Croydon. Carers were able to learn more about what’s on offer and most importantly, take some time out for themselves.

Here's what one of our carers had to say about the event:
“It was great to meet up with the carers who are not regulars at the café and catch up with their experiences. The cream tea was lovely and well organised. I was surprised to see so many representatives from outside agencies at the event.”

As well as the Head of Adult Social Care, “Thank you for organising and inviting us! It was a lovely event that was very meaningful.”
