On Saturday 10th October, representatives of Shakespeare Morris will be going to Jockey Morris Day of Dance in Birmingham, it’s sure to be a fun day out!

Come along and learn Cotswold Morris in September!

Shakespeare Morris of Stratford-upon-Avon are hosting a 3-week FREE workshop open to anyone looking to learn to dance or play for Cotswold Morris dancing.

You will be learning dances from the local village of Bidford-on-Avon, which were revived in 1886 by D’Arcy Ferris (1855 - 1929), a pageants organiser from Bath. The Bidford dances turn 140 years old in 2026 and so why not come along and be apart of the history!

Comfortable clothing and shoes are advised and we will provide everything you need, just bring yourself and have a go on Monday 14/21/28th September, 8-10pm at The Rosebird Community Hall, Shipston Road, CV37 8LU.

Now the other surprise…

Our Bagman got ENGAGED!

For those who don’t know, our Bagman is Harald Selchyster, they do a cracking job at being Bagman and today their partner Dominic surprised them during Bromyard Folk Festival with popping the question.

With the assistance of Jockey Morris & Roots Morris, we were able to do a mass ‘Bonny Green Garters’ before Dominic led Harald into the circle. Our Foreman, Matthew, started proceedings by announcing:

“A-Room, a-room, brave gallants, give us room to rhyme!
We’ve come to show you a merry, courting time!
Activity and youth are now upon our stage,
To tell the greatest love story of the age!
Step forth, handsome Harald, do not fall,
And here stands a suitor, bold and true,
Who has traveled all of Warwickshire just to meet you!”

Dom then gave a short speech about his affection for Harald and asked them the question, to which Harald replied with ‘Yes!’

Thank you to Jockey Morris for dancing ‘Haste to the Wedding’ (Brackley) and making it an extra special moment!

Congratulations to both!

Well we’ve had an absolutely fun few days at Bromyard Folk Festival!

Here are a selection of pictures from the Friday and Saturday- however, we do have one more surprise for you!

In the meantime, please remember that practices start up again on MONDAY 14th SEPT, 8-10pm @ The Rosebird Community Hall, Shipston Rd, CV37 8LU. So why not come and give Morris a try!

Our last engagement for the summer!

We can be found this coming weekend at Bromyard Folk Festival on Friday 11th for the procession through Bromyard & Saturday 12th for dancing around Bromyard.
