Another busy week of racing and events for STC!

But first, we rewind to last Saturday (6th June) for a late result. Laura B was in action at the Big Bala Swim, putting in a great performance in the 500m distance and finishing 3rd in the wetsuit category. πŸ‘

Gillian was on the fells on Tuesday evening, claiming 2nd place in her age category at the Coppice Fell Race in Accrington. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ›°οΈπŸ₯ˆ

It was also a big weekend at the Great North Swim in Windermere:

On Friday, Paul F took on the challenging 5k swim.
On Saturday, Sian competed in the Swim/Run Short Distance event.
On Sunday, both Kerry and Nicola tackled the 2-mile swim. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

We also had international representation on Saturday. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Nick R raced in Team GB colours after qualifying for the Europe Triathlon Age-Group Championships in Tarragona, Spain, competing in the Sprint Distance event. What an achievement!

Back on the trails, Gillian was in action again, this time joined by Simon at the Sabden Trail Race in Clitheroe. Both put in fantastic performances, with Simon finishing 2nd in his age category and Gillian taking 1st place in hers. πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‡

Finally, Charlie was racing on Sunday at the Slateman Legend 70.3, producing a great result on what is widely regarded as a tough and demanding course. πŸ’ͺ

Congratulations to everyone who raced this week and represented STC so brilliantly! πŸ”΄βš«πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Well done to all who raced over the last week – and what a busy week it’s been!

Wednesday saw the 2026 Bramhall Runners Foodbanks Summer Trail Race, with Stephen B, Phil, Amy, Karen, Paul F, Paul P, Emma M, Nick R, Amelia, Andy and Emma T taking on the scenic 5.5km course through Happy Valley in Bramhall. A special congratulations to Stephen, who finished an impressive 3rd in his age category.

Also on Wednesday, Rob, Charlie and Chris ventured out on their bikes to compete in the Macclesfield Wheelers Club 10-mile TT, with Rob and Charlie producing excellent rides to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Staying with time trials, Simon delivered a strong performance at the Manchester & District LCA 10TT on Saturday.

Further north, Gillian was in action in the Lake District, taking on the Lakeland Trails Coniston Trail Challenge 16K.

Phil and Susie were part of a four-person team at the Endure24 relay race in Reading, where teams aim to complete as many laps as possible over 24 hours. Phil clocked up an incredible 45 miles, while Susie added a fantastic 30 miles to the team effort.

Congratulations to Leigh, who completed his first sprint triathlon at the Supertri Blenheim Palace Sprint. A brilliant achievement and hopefully the first of many.

Sunday brought more milestone performances as Chris B, Jen and Jonny all recorded great times in their first 70.3-distance triathlon at Ironman Bolton 70.3. They were joined by Adam, who was back in action just a few weeks after competing at Outlaw 70.3. Well done to all four and welcome to the 70.3 club!

Congratulations also go to Jeni, who completed her first Olympic-distance triathlon at the Chester Triathlon. Another fantastic achievement and no doubt the start of many more races to come.

Nick R was also in action at the Pendle Supersprint Triathlon.

Rounding off a busy week, Emma T and Andy took on the Port Sunlight 10K road race.

Well done to everyone who raced this week, and an extra congratulations to those who completed their first triathlon or 70.3 event. It’s fantastic to see so many members stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing new challenges and achieving new milestones. πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ…

πŸ’₯ Something a bit different today! πŸ’₯

10 of our members headed to JBC Fitness for a β€œHave a Go HYROX” session and were certainly put through their paces!

The group got a taste of the strength and conditioning challenges that make up the HYROX fitness event, testing their power, endurance and determination along the way.

A brilliant effort from everyone involved – plenty of hard work, sweat and smiles! πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯

It’s been another busy week of running events for our members.

On Wednesday, there were two races to report on and two age-category podium finishes.

Sian was in action at the Dovestone Diamond Multi-Terrain Race, finishing 2nd in her age category. Gill D was back competing in the Accrington Trail & Fell Series, coming 1st in her age category at the Stanhill Fell Race.

On Saturday, Jeni made the trip to Wales to take on the Abersoch 10K.

Sunday saw the biggest 10K in the UK, the Great Manchester Run. Laura B and Iona took on the 10K distance, with Laura finishing 1st in her age category, while Gill J tackled the half marathon distance.

Congratulations to everyone who raced this week and represented the club so well! πŸ‘

🏊OPEN WATER SWIM SESSION🏊

Some of our members enjoyed a sunny day out taking part in a coached open water swim session run by Swim Matters at Salford Quays.

The session focused on developing key open water skills, including sighting, getting comfortable swimming in close proximity to others through fun partner drills such as high fives, and practising drafting techniques.

It was an enjoyable and valuable session for everyone who attended, with plenty of new open water skills to take forward into the race season.
