**Friday 6th – Sunday 8th November 2026**
**Location:** Greenside Road, Glenridding, Cumbria, CA11 0QR (near Helvellyn, Lake District)
Join Cockleshell22 Veteran Expeditions for a weekend of adventure, camaraderie and remembrance in the heart of the Lake District.
Bringing together veterans, serving personnel and members of the Cockleshell22 community, the weekend combines a mountain day on Helvellyn, a Royal Marines Corps Birthday dinner night and a Remembrance Sunday service in Glenridding.
It's an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, welcome new members, enjoy the outdoors and remember those who have served and sacrificed.
# # Weekend Itinerary
**Friday 6th November – Arrival & Social Evening**
Arrive on Friday evening and settle into the accommodation. We'll gather for an informal social evening, with an introduction to Cockleshell22 for new members, an opportunity to meet the team and hear about our upcoming expeditions.
Evening food will be provided, followed by a relaxed social gathering.
**Saturday 7th November – Helvellyn & Royal Marines Corps Birthday**
After breakfast, we'll head into the mountains for a full-day walk up Helvellyn, one of the Lake District's most iconic peaks.
The route will be selected according to weather conditions and the group's abilities, with an opportunity to enjoy some spectacular mountain scenery.
In the evening, we'll come together for a special **Royal Marines Corps Birthday Dinner Night**, celebrating the history, traditions and spirit of the Royal Marines.
Dinner will be provided, with participants asked to bring their own drinks, including w**e or port for the evening.
**Sunday 8th November – Remembrance Sunday**
On Sunday morning, we'll make our way to the Glenridding War Memorial to attend the local **Remembrance Sunday Service at 11:00am**.
Following the service, we'll gather for a drink in Glenridding before saying our farewells and departing on Sunday afternoon.
# # Accommodation & Catering
Accommodation and meals throughout the weekend are provided by Cockleshell22.
Participants should bring their own alcoholic drinks for the weekend, particularly w**e or port for Saturday's dinner night.
# # Kit Requirements
All participants will need suitable equipment for a full mountain day in November, including:
- Waterproof jacket and trousers
- Warm layers and insulated jacket
- Suitable mountain walking boots
- Day rucksack
- Hat and gloves
- Water bottle or hydration system
- Headtorch
- Personal medication and any other essential mountain equipment
- Smart-casual clothing for Saturday's Royal Marines Corps Birthday dinner night
- Appropriate clothing for Sunday's Remembrance service
- Personal overnight clothing and toiletries
**Please note:** November conditions on Helvellyn can be challenging, with the possibility of snow, ice, strong winds and low temperatures. The mountain route will be weather-dependent, and additional winter equipment may be required depending on conditions.

This weekend is about bringing our community together, enjoying the mountains, celebrating the Royal Marines' proud heritage and taking time to remember those who are no longer with us.
