Friday's meeting with Rick Dobney demonstrating seems to have been a great success. There were lots of competition entries.

In the advanced section for the 3 footed bowl project, the awards were:

First - Derek Horner (the large platter)
Second - David Henson (feet and eyes)
Third - Sandy Gibson (Green edge platter)

In the general section the awards were
First - Jim Palmer (small light dish on the right)
Second - Kelly Greenstreet (gonk in the centre)
Third - (small bowl on the left)

Looks like a great weekend to explore art in Wilmslow.

🎨 Wilmslow Art 🎨 is open from Friday 2nd October to Sunday 4th October and brings together 30 Northern jewellers, artists and potters.

An opportunity to buy something for your home or a personal gift for yourself or a loved one. Every piece has a story, a process, a practice waiting to be discovered and everything is made by hand.

Find us on Chapel Lane in the Church Halls, Chapel Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 1PR

We are open on:

Friday 6-8pm
Saturday 10-5pm
Sunday 12-4pm

Wilmslow Art as an organisation is run by volunteers and attracts artists from around the North West. We get a large number of applications to join the show every year and are able to curate a very special and unique collection of artists and makers.

Our September meeting featured a demonstration by Pete Osborn. Pete demonstrated turning a natural edge goblet with captive rings using an old piece of eucalyptus.

Our competition awards for the advanced "textured item" subject, Sandy Gibson in First and Third place, Bill Quinn in Second. Mike Jones took first place in the General turner section.

We had a different type of demonstration last night with a presentation followed by a demonstration of a rose engine lathe by Colin Spencer.

July's club competitions were well supported. Our advanced topic was a table lamp.
The general turners section was won by Cliff Windsor, with Colin Winder second and Pat Sutton in third.
The advanced section was won by Heather Bagnall, with Sandy Gibson taking both second and third place.
Thanks to all who entered, and voted in our competitions.

July's club night featured our very own Peter Nelson Woodturner. Peter turned and decorated a bowl using Jo Sonja colours. Here are some super photos taken by Heather Bagnall

A great day at the Handforth Armed Services day. Many thanks to our club members, Jonathan, Peter, Sandy, Gavin and Bob Evans, for their help to set up, and for further support during the day from David and Roger. Without the dedication of our club members these events simply won't happen.

Our June competition entries were few in number but high on quality. In the General turners section Cliff Windsor earned second place with a lovely dish, and Jim Palmer was in first place with a tea-light holder in Zebrano.

The advanced competition project was a long stemmed Goblet. Second place went to Bill Quinn with a tall goblet made from Ash, and first place was David Henson with a wood /resin goblet.

Our June meeting yesterday was greatly enhanced by our demonstrator Kate Kitchen https://www.facebook.com/KateCraftyLass/

Kate demonstrated woodturning small animals, ideal for our upcoming Romiley Show. Kate weaved in a great mix of personal stories and humour. Accompanied by her mum, Julie, Kate also brought along products from Black Bull Timber which went down well with our members.
