Our June competition entries were few in number but high on quality. In the General turners section Cliff Windsor earned second place with a lovely dish, and Jim Palmer was in first place with a tea-light holder in Zebrano.

The advanced competition project was a long stemmed Goblet. Second place went to Bill Quinn with a tall goblet made from Ash, and first place was David Henson with a wood /resin goblet.

Our June meeting yesterday was greatly enhanced by our demonstrator Kate Kitchen https://www.facebook.com/KateCraftyLass/

Kate demonstrated woodturning small animals, ideal for our upcoming Romiley Show. Kate weaved in a great mix of personal stories and humour. Accompanied by her mum, Julie, Kate also brought along products from Black Bull Timber which went down well with our members.

The first meeting in our new venue last night, (Torkington Centre), was a bit chaotic. We managed to set up and test out our demonstration equipment and camera kit. We have a lot more space so we're able to spread out around the room.
The half time refreshments worked well.
Thanks to Sandy Gibson for testing the demonstration setup.

The general turner competition 1st place was awarded to Jim Palmer and 1st place in the advanced turners section went to Heather Bagnall.

For those interested in the segmenting jig I found this youtube video to be a good explanation. The first part is for a single fence jig, the second part covers the two fence jig.

Our aim was to attract new members to our club, and to share our sales on the day with Francis House Children's Hospice. We raised £102, £51 of which will be donated.
