🌿 Something for everyone this June with Capture & Calm Walks CIC! 🌿

Looking for a friendly way to connect, get creative, enjoy nature, or simply take some time for yourself?

We have a range of welcoming community events coming up this month, including:

• Mindful photography activities
• Gentle wellbeing walks
• Creative wellbeing sessions
• Nature-based activities
• Women’s wellbeing events
• Family-friendly experiences

Whether you would like to meet new people, explore local green spaces, get creative, or enjoy a little calm in your week, we would love to welcome you.

Many activities are free or heavily subsidised thanks to community funding.

🌿 We’re pleased to be teaming up with The Goodness Collective CIC and Walking Wavers for a gentle women’s wellbeing walk this month.

If you would like some fresh air, a gentle stroll and the chance to meet other local women, we’d love you to join us.

Thursday 25th June
10am–11am
Offerton Community Centre, Mallowdale Road

The walk will be relaxed and friendly, with plenty of opportunities to chat or simply enjoy being outdoors. There’s no pressure and no need to have attended anything before.

Places are free thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund.

FREE WELLBEING SESSION FOR WOMEN

Take some time for yourself and join us for a gentle wellbeing session combining nature, creativity and connection in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Monday 22nd June
12:30pm – 2:00pm
Brabyns Recreation Centre, Marple Bridge

• Optional short nature walk
• Simple creative activity
• Hot drinks and refreshments
• Friendly, welcoming atmosphere

This session is funded through the MSV Kindness Fund, with priority places available for MSV tenants.

💚 Carers Week 2026 💚

This Carers Week, I’ve been reflecting on how much life can change.

When my daughter was born, I had no idea where the journey ahead would lead. She is life-limited, deaf and partially sighted, and becoming her mum changed every part of my world.

Alongside supporting her, our family adapted to a life of appointments, advocacy, uncertainty and learning to celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.

My two sons have also grown up as young carers, showing kindness, patience and understanding beyond their years.

There were times when I lost confidence and wondered who I was beyond being a carer and mum.

Yet looking back, that journey has also shaped the person I have become.

It inspired my interest in inclusion, sensory awareness, colour, creativity, nature and wellbeing. It led me to establish Capture & Calm Walks CIC, creating the kind of supportive community I was searching for myself. It also inspired the development of Future Journeys CIC, supporting children and young people, including those with SEND and additional needs.

This year I was honoured to receive a Mental Health Champion Award and to secure National Lottery Community Fund support to help grow this work within our community.

Neither achievement belongs to me alone. They are rooted in the experiences, challenges and lessons my family has lived through together.

To every unpaid carer, parent carer and young carer:

💚 What you do matters.
💚 The skills you develop matter.
💚 Your wellbeing matters too.

And a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports carers and caring families — the schools, charities, support workers, hospice teams, healthcare professionals, community groups, friends, neighbours, volunteers and organisations who make such a difference. Your kindness, understanding and support help families like ours feel less alone.

Thank you to all the carers quietly making a difference every day, and to all those who stand beside them.

🌿 Thank You, Dobbies Marple! 🌿

A huge thank you to the team at Dobbies Marple for welcoming Capture & Calm Walks CIC today as part of Great Big Green Week.

It was lovely to spend time chatting with visitors, sharing ideas about wellbeing and nature, and creating our community nature display together.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, coloured a leaf or flower, shared what they love about nature, and helped our display grow throughout the day.

The finished display was created entirely by the community and is a wonderful reminder of how nature brings people together, encourages creativity, and supports wellbeing.

We are so grateful for the opportunity and look forward to working with Dobbies again in the future.

We’re excited to launch our first Little Barnaby Farm adventure, Olive’s Nature Trail.

For just £3, everyone who purchases a Nature Explorer Bag can decorate their bag, follow Olive’s trail, complete nature challenges and enjoy a relaxed family experience at their own pace.

🕚 11:30am – 2:30pm (last entry 2:00pm)

Each Nature Explorer Bag includes:

• A Nature Explorer Bag to decorate and take home
• Access to all trail activities, challenges and pause points
• Creative and nature-based activities throughout the event
• A special Little Barnaby Farm reward at the end
