SENDIASS Training Day โ€“ Service Update ๐Ÿ“ข

On Tuesday 16th June, the South Tyneside SENDIASS team will be attending the SENDIASS North East Regional Training Day alongside colleagues from across the region.

As all members of our team will be taking part in this full-day training, our helpline will not be available on this date and will divert to voicemail.

The training will focus on developing our knowledge and skills to ensure we continue to provide high-quality information, advice and support to children, young people and families across South Tyneside.

Referrals can be submitted via our website (www.southtynesidesendiass.co.uk)

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding as we invest in strengthening our service for the families we support.

Our normal service will resume on Wednesday 17th June.

Cuppa & Cake with parents and carers of young people aged 11โ€“18 ๐Ÿ‘ฅโ˜•๐Ÿฐ

We had another lovely morning at the Autism Hub welcoming parents and carers to our monthly Cuppa & Cake group.

It was a great opportunity to catch up, share experiences, and enjoy a chat together. Thank you to everyone who attended, we always enjoy seeing you each month!

We were also joined by Ryan from South Tyneside SENDIASS and would like to say a big thank you to him for coming along and sharing information about the support available to families. Ryan will be back with us next week for our Cuppa and Cake group for families with young adults aged 18+ on Monday 22nd June from 10am-11.30am. As part of School Exclusions Week 2026, weโ€™re excited to be working on a creative, collaborative arts project โ€“ The Inclusion Quilt. ๐Ÿงต

This special quilt will be made up of individually designed fabric squares, sharing what inclusion means to children and young people, parents/carers, and schools across South Tyneside. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐Ÿงก The finished quilt will be unveiled during School Exclusions Week in November.
Over the summer, weโ€™ll be hosting a series of drop-in events where you can learn more, get involved, and design your own patch for the quilt.

This week is Learning Disabilities Week (Monday 15 to Sunday 21 June) โ€“ a celebration of the amazing things people with learning disabilities bring to society.

This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œDo you see me?โ€ which is about being seen, heard and valued and challenging the barriers people with a learning disability face.

Join us across South Tyneside for a week of events including:

- Let the World Know launch event with the Mayor
- Drop in sessions at Holder House
- Disco at The Word
- Live performance at the Amphitheatre and more!
