What an amazing night at the "Inside Lancashire Property Awards". We got the chance to meet up with the team from Tawd Valley Developments to support them and thank them again for the wonderful transformation to Liverpool Road Hall that they helped make possible. When I reached out to Mark Kitts for advice on the drainwork that may or may not have needed doing and my wanting to relocate the toilets out of the main hall to make the building multi use he met up with me at LRH. When I shared our story and planned journey to make the building welcoming, multiuse and accessible he said he would support me. Talk about tge extra mile! He brought in a team and together we came up with a much bigger transformation than I had planned, in a shorter timeframe than I expected, to allow the building to be used by the community and to start paying for itself. So many people volunteering their time and skills to make it happen. Bringing in youngsters and other volunteers to work alongside the contractors giving them construction experience was lovely to see. The finishing result is far beyond our expectation and we cant thank them enough.
So being invited to the awards because our Hall had been shortlisted and recognised for the "Social Impact" category was for us the icing on the cake. It was good enough for me to get shortlisted in the nominations for the whole of Lancashire - wow, but then to go on and see our lovely Skelmersdale Hall be judged to have had the best social impact across the County well Ecstatic to say the least. I can't thank Mark and the team enough for this result. And I know not every local councillor agrees with West Lancs having its own property development company and yes we have objected to housing developments that TVDs are involved in but we cannot deny how having them in situ has greatly benefitted us in Skelmersdale with our amazing community hall recognised as the Winner for social impact.
