Skegness Town Twinning

Skegness Town Twinning Skegness is twinned with Bad Gandersheim in Germany He fell in love with the area due to its different cultures and historical buildings.

Twinning in Skegness was started back in 1979 by a person who spent time in Germany when he was in the forces and stationed around the Harz mountains, where the borders between the east and west met. Through the years the link between Bad Gandersheim has grown stronger and some members visit friends they have made on their own beside the visit arranged through the twinning association. The recepti

on we receive when our group visits Bad Gandersheim is wonderful. Some members stay with the same people over the years. There is a friendship bond. The hospitality we receive is second to none. We visit various places of interests both historic and modern. There is something for everyone from museums to the town festival. During our stay, our hosts take us on outings to places ranging from towns like Hamelin – famous for its Pied Piper - to a medieval castle or a local brewery. The stay in Bad Gandersheim is usually between four and six days and is usually when the town festival is on. This event is colourful, though somewhat loud at times and fills the town from the Friday afternoon until it finishes on the Sunday evening. This gives the members who stay in hotels something to do in the evening. Those who are hosted are normally entertained by their hosts. We travel by coach to either Stansted or Heathrow airport. We catch the early morning flight and arrive at Bad Gandersheim by lunch time. Our return flight is in the evening. There are and will be many memorable moments as you will see when you browse this website. We hope you will enjoy the following pages and will be encouraged to enquire and maybe become a member yourself.

A huge congratulations to Daniel Kirk on becoming the new Mayor of Skegness! 🎉
From everyone at the Skegness Twinning Association, we’re incredibly proud to see one of our own members take on this important role.

We’re especially looking forward to Daniel’s very first visit to Bad Gandersheim this September—an exciting moment for our twinning partnership! 🇬🇧🤝🇩🇪

Alright… it might not be quite as tall as the Big Ben Tower behind it 😄🌳

But our Twinning Tree stands tall and proud as a symbol of friendship, unity, and the special connection we share with Bad Gandersheim. ❤️

The beautiful Osterberg Lakes! 💚

So much has developed here since the 2023 State Garden Show: beautiful perennial gardens, abundant nature, and countless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Whether you're strolling, cycling, or simply letting the children play – from the bouldering rocks to the sports park, there's so much to discover. And there's always something happening at Osterberg Plaza.

A real highlight: The natural outdoor pool reopens on May 16th! ☀️

And without the "Wir für Bad Gandersheim" (We for Bad Gandersheim) association, so much wouldn't be the same: the weekend ferry service, the new pavilion, and the lovingly designed "favorite spot" with its herb garden – so much heart and soul has gone into this place.

Whether you're going for a walk, a bike ride, or simply letting the kids play – there's so much passion and dedication invested in this. A place to arrive, breathe deeply, and enjoy 🌿

Wishing our good friends in Bad Gandersheim a very happy Easter. We are looking forward to seeing you all in September.
