A brief overview of the NFWI Virtual Annual Meeting today:

A really interesting mix of speakers.
*Mary Lewis, the chair of The Jane Goodall Institute UK, on the irrepressible nature of Jane Goodall and the width and depth of her work.

*Professor Michele Dougherty, the first woman in 350 years to be named Astronomer Royal on her career and the work she does in unmanned space exploration.

*Anne Boden, the first woman to found a British bank on her career and AI.

Both resolutions were passed, public accessibile toilets with a majority of 95% and women's homelessness with a majorly of 92%.

I will send a full report to all the WIs in my link group ASAP.

‘The most important thing that I did was say “yes” to things I wasn’t sure I could do.’ – Professor Michele Dougherty

Thank you so much for sharing your passion and knowledge with us, Michele!

We are delighted to share a new resource for the Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers campaign, the Defibrillator (AED) Guidance Resource.

The guide is full of practical information to help you raise awareness on the importance of defibrillators (AEDs) and includes clear, accessible guidance and resources on AEDs and offers a number of ways for WI members to get involved to make a lifesaving difference.

Increasing confidence and understanding around defibrillator use directly supports the aims of the Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers campaign, empowering bystanders to act quickly and effectively during a cardiac arrest. This guide will act as a vital tool for you to raise awareness on the importance of having AEDs in your communities.

On Tuesday we welcome a speaker from LIVES to talk to us about Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

This was meant to be our January talk that we unfortunately had to cancel because of the weather.

The talk ties in with last year's resolution on 'Bystanders can be Lifesavers'.

The competition is 'A Gift from a Loved One'

At our last meeting we unveiled our Red Jacket, inspired by the Red Dress Project (link in comments).

Members of our Skegness WI contributed buttons, brooches, ribbons, poppies, and their sewing skills to create the jacket.

All of which relates back to us.
The sleeves have been left untouched so we can add more in the future.
