Sidmouth Rotary Club and Sidmouth Town Council were proud to honour Sylvia Brownlee as Citizen of the Year 2025 at a ceremony held at the Victoria Hotel on 25 March.
Sylvia was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the community, including organising Sidmouth Hospice at Home concerts, Sidmouth Market Place street parties, and leading events for the upcoming 80th Anniversary of VE Day. She also served as Secretary of the Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce for 17 years and played a key role in saving the Sidholme Music Room.
The award was presented by Rotary President David Hodge and Town Council Chair Cllr Hilary Nelson.
Sylvia thanked Rotary for the recognition, highlighting the many volunteers across the community who make Sidmouth such a special place.
Her name will now be added to the Town Council’s Board of Honour.
