We're so proud of you Kieran Hughes you deserve this, we can't thank you enough for the support you've given us

I have just received an email from BBC Tees radio announcing that myself and the Stanhope 10 Miler have been nominated for an award. I just want to say thank you to who ever it was, It means a lot.

Please see below the contents of what has been submitted by a wonderful person who hasnt been named.

The Stanhope 10 Miler has become one of County Durham’s most anticipated annual running events, drawing athletes and supporters to the heart of Weardale each year. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Durham Dales, the race takes place in the picturesque village of Stanhope, offering participants a challenging yet rewarding ten-mile route through beautiful countryside. Known for its steady climbs and breathtaking views, the event is both a physical test and a celebration of community spirit.

Founded by Kieran Hughes, the Stanhope 10 Miler was established with a clear purpose: to bring people together through sport while giving back to the local area. As a strictly non-profit event, every pound raised goes back into the community. Thanks to the generosity of runners, sponsors and supporters, the event has raised over £22,000 for local charities, making a meaningful difference to organisations and families across the region.

Kieran’s passion for fitness and community development has driven the event’s continued success. What began as an ambitious local idea has grown into a respected fixture on the regional running calendar, attracting participants of all abilities. Beyond race day, the event also boosts the local economy, encouraging visitors to explore village businesses and hospitality. The Stanhope 10 Miler is more than a race — it is a powerful example of how community, determination and charitable spirit can achieve lasting impact.

Everyone grieves differently, and that's completely okay. There is no right or wrong way to navigate loss.

One theory that has helped me enormously since losing Quinn, and later Dyl, is the Continuing Bonds Theory of Grief. Rather than believing we have to "move on" or let go of those we love, it suggests that we can continue our relationship with them in a different way.

For me, this means carrying Quinn and Dyl with me every day through memories, traditions, conversations, and the work we do at Quinn's Retreat. They are no longer physically here, but they remain a part of my life and who I am.

The Continuing Bonds theory reminds us that grief isn't about forgetting. It's about finding ways to stay connected to the people we love while continuing to live our lives. ❤️

Have you found ways to maintain a connection with someone you have lost? 💙🖤

We have 1 numbers left on the Lucky Number Card, but I will be doing the draw tonight regardless of whether the remaining numbers are sold.

Due to not being able to access Facebook for almost two weeks, it has taken much longer than usual to fill the card, and I don't want to delay the draw any further.

If an unsold number is drawn as the winning number, the prize will go to the closest sold number. If there are two numbers equally close, we will flip a coin to decide the winner.

Now that we can finally get back onto Facebook, let's see if we can get these last few numbers filled and send someone off for a beautiful stay at Dyl's Den! ☀️🏡

Numbers are just £10 each, and the available numbers are listed below.

Once you've chosen your number, I'll send you the bank details for payment. Please send payment as soon as possible so that we can get the card filled and the draw completed before tonight's draw. 😊

Dyl's Den is a luxury holiday home situated just outside Appleby-in-Westmorland. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and sleeps up to 6 people comfortably — perfect for a relaxing family getaway.

We still have availability during the summer school holidays, where a stay would normally cost well over £1,000, but one lucky winner could enjoy it all for just £10! 💙

Thank you so much for your continued support of Quinn's Retreat, and good luck, everyone! 🍀

So upsetting to go to Dyl and Quinn’s Garden and find that yet more things have been stolen.

Last week, some beautiful metal birds were taken. This week, three Little Cast iron mice have disappeared, along with a wicker plant pot in the shape of a cat and another in the shape of a dog, both planted with heather. A flat stone with the letter D carved into it has also been taken.

To make matters worse, someone has allowed their dog to chew one of the flower holders, leaving it damaged beyond use.

The garden has been there for almost eight years, and this is the first time we have experienced such a distressing spate of theft and vandalism. The police have been informed.

It is just so sad. This garden is not only a special place for us, our family and friends, but also for the many people who visit it throughout the year. Young and old alike stop to sit, reflect, remember, and enjoy the peace and beauty it offers.

Eric spends countless hours caring for the garden, planting, tidying, repairing, and making it a beautiful place for everyone. To see items taken and damaged in this way is heartbreaking and incredibly disheartening.

If anyone has seen anything suspicious or knows anything about the missing items, please get in touch.

This version keeps the sadness and frustration while encouraging people to support and look out for the garden.
