We have a vacancy on our board for a Treasurer.

Do you have a financial background, or just a love of budgeting and keeping things organised?
If so then, this could be the role for you!

It is not a paid role, however all of our trustees are rewarded with a week's stay at one of our retreats as well as free entry to many events that we help out at. You will also know that you are helping out an amazing small charity.

What we would require from you is up to 8 hours a month commitment for a minimum of 3 years.

We would provide you with all of the training that you require to fulfil the role.

The Role Of A Charity Treasurer

A charity treasurer will advise trustees on their financial responsibilities, may chair the finance/audit committee and liaise with professional advisors, such as auditors.

In small charities, the role will be much more hands-on, perhaps including routine finance duties, such as budgeting and preparation of reports.

Oversee the charity's finances to ensure its regulatory and legal responsibilities meet and comply with charity accounting practice.
Oversee the annual budget (and risk plan) and that charity accounts are prepared and the key issues and risks reported to the trustee board in a timely and effective manner.

Monitor and report on the financial health of the charity at regular board meetings.

Lead in the development and implementation of finance policies, such as reserves, cash handling and systems of internal control.

Our 15 Glamping Burrows (formerly known as Hobbit Holes) are large underground living spaces with an amazing view over the Ullswater valley.
They are superbly insulated, energy efficient, secure and virtually invisible unless you know where to look. They are four times larger than a standard Camping Pod and are therefore suitable for larger families or those wanting a little more in the way of space and facilities. The generous space is ideal for family living.
The interior is 15m square and can accommodate up to 2 adults and 4 children. Inside there is a bench, table, heater, bin, lights, plugs and USB charge sockets. A large soft covered sleep ledge (3m x 2m) covers one end. The simplicity of this accommodation and lack of soft furnishings lends itself to an ease of cleaning that makes it incredibly safe.
There is a kettle, microwave, fridge, Wi-Fi, toilet and wash basin in each Glamping Burrow.

The North East Speak Their Name Quilt/Banner has been moved to the main building at Locomotion train museum in Shildon today.

I will be giving a short talk on the story behind the Quilt on Thursday 7th November at the museum at 6pm

Everyone is welcome to come and see this amazing piece of artwork and help us to keep the memory of our lost loved ones alive. To "Speak their name" with us.

Please let me know if you can come so that we can have enough chairs out for everyone.
