As our main running season draws to a close, our mighty DMU is getting the festive season started, running the first of many prep and test trains for the Norfolk Lights Express this week. We suppose the 5:45 alarm was worth it for a photo opportunity like this!

Unfortunately the repairs required to D6732 are a bit more extensive than first thought, meaning the loco won't be available this Saturday.

As a result what should have been D6732 will now DMU operated.

Today hasn't gone quite to plan, of which we can only apologise and thank everyone for their patience whilst our volunteers worked hard to recover the service. Both D9553 and D6732 didn't want to play ball, the 14 having electrical gremlins and 37 having an air pipe fracture. The DMU has come out to finish the day. These things are sent to try us and thankyou again to everyone who came for the day, even if it didn't pan out as planned.

Sadly, D9553 has failed with an electrical fault upon arrival at Sheringham, and the fault will take it out for the rest of the day. We're trying our best and all those involved have invested a lot of time and effort but alas it's just not to be.

Update: D9553 has got an issue on shed with its reverser. As a result it will miss its first round trip. However, aiming...

The moment you've been waiting for! D9553 makes its NNR debut on 10th October. After arrival with us, the engine needed some repairs which were slightly more complex than anticipated, hence the delay in entering service.

Full details of 10th October, which will also feature D6732 and a steam, can be found here: https://nnrailway.co.uk/heritage-train-trio-26

This might not be the first time D9553 and D6732 have worked together though, as both were allocated to Hull Dairycoates in the late 60s.
