Edward Hain Centre St Ives' community hub of health & wellbeing: Where Care and Community Meet
Bringing accessible services to the community of St Ives and surrounding areas.

The Edward Hain Centre provides a health and wellbeing hub for residents of St Ives and the surrounding areas. Saved by the people of St Ives, the building will be a permanent facility at the heart of the town with a mission of providing benefits to physical and mental health. A new charity (registered charity number 1200936), the trustees, staff and volunteers have strong local connections and fe

el passionately about the core objectives of:
• Prioritising services and activities that deliver face-to-face medical/clinic sessions – one-to-one, group or family format, for patients with clinicians
• Providing medical/health support services for children and adults of all ages, across general needs e.g. mental health, through to specific conditions e.g. Parkinson's or dementia.
• Promoting food quality and access to healthier eating, alongside support for those in need.
• Consulting with the community to identify and strive to meet other health-related needs. We are actively working with the NHS, GP surgery and other health-related charities, to bring the Edward Hain building back to life again. We welcome input from volunteers and well-wishers. With our supporting League of Friends group stronger than ever, its focus on community and fundraising efforts continues to help us to reach our aims.

ANNOUNCING a fun and exciting new venture between the Edward Hain Centre and Shanty Shout teams: SHANTY KIDS!

In the lead-up to this year’s St Ives Shanty Shout festival, the Edward Hain Centre and Shanty Shanty Shout teams are launching Shanty Kids, a community initiative for local children aged 5 - 10 years old. The aim: to give them the opportunity to learn and perform traditional Cornish sea shanties and perform them at St Ia's - St Ives Parish Church as part of the Shanty Shout festival programme in November.

So if you have children or grandchildren between ages 5 and 10 who love to sing — this could be tailor made for them!

The Shanty Kids will be taught the songs by a professional shanty singer: none other than Pilchard The Pirate Workshops and rehearsals will be at the Centre (at school-friendly times) between August and November, with the concert happening at St Ia on Saturday, November 21st. (Time tba)

🔸 For more details (including provisional timetable), and how to enroll your Shanty Kid, see here: https://edwardhaincentre.org.uk/shanty-kids-2026/
🔸 Ready to sign up? Email [email protected]

- please to help get the word out. We are SO excited about this, and hope you are too! ❤️

On Saturday, June 27th, if you can spare an hour or two between 11AM and 4PM to help with serving food and drink at our Alternative Markets event -- or even a little earlier / later to help with set-up and take-down -- we'd be very grateful!

ALSO NEEDED: Food for (what we hope will be) the masses: cakes, cookies, savoury treats like sausage rolls... (see post from yesterday) 🍰 🧁 🍖 🍪

Can you help? Whether to bake, or help with goodies on the day, please let us know with a comment below, DM, or email us at [email protected]

CALLING ALL BAKERS! Can you help us out with your wonderful baked goodies for our Alternative Markets event on Saturday, June 27th? (About 2 and a half weeks away.) As well as cakes and cookies, we're seeking small pre-cooked savoury treats like sausage rolls and mini quiches.

Any and all contributions very gratefully received. Please comment below, or DM, or email us at [email protected] if you're able to help out - and also, what you plan to bake. If you're able to deliver to the Centre on Friday, 26th or morning of the 27th that would be perfect. Pick-up may be possible if we have enough notice.

THANK YOU!
