🍂❗️LAST CHANCE OF THE SUMMER - THURSDAY 18TH JUNE❗️🍂

🪴 THERFIELD HEATH FREE MULCH GIVEAWAY 🪴

Dates: Friday 12th June, Saturday 13th June & Thursday 18th June

Place: Royston Golf Club Car Park, Baldock Road

We’re excited to announce three more free mulch giveaway events on Therfield Heath in collaboration with Therfield Heath – another great chance to pick up some locally sourced mulch while supporting conservation work on the Heath!

All of the events will take place in the Royston Golf Club car park, on Friday 12th June, Saturday 13th June and Thursday 18th June, from 10am to 12noon.

Please bring along your own bags, buckets or barrows. Ellie the Ranger for Therfield Heath will be there to shovel and load your cars if you need help.

The Friends of Therfield Heath will also be there on the day to help and take any donations you'd like to give in return for the mulch. Any donations will make their way back to the maintaining and improving the Heath for everyone to enjoy.

All the mulch has been created by chipping woody plants that have been cut back by our staff and dedicated volunteers as part of our ongoing conservation programme to protect and maintain the Heath’s rich and rare open chalk grassland. It’s a mixed chip of hawthorn, blackthorn, ash, sycamore, silver birch and elder – perfect for garden beds and borders. Please be aware that it may still contain some thorns, so it’s not ideal for paths.

Please come along and take advantage of this fantastic resource, straight from conservation work on Therfield Heath!

🌿⛅️ We had perfect conditions for our litter pick on Therfield Heath this morning with some sunny spells and gentle winds. Thank you to everyone who joined us! ⛅️🌿

Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers (adults, children & dogs 🐕), over 14kg (~30lb) of litter was collected ♻️🥤📦🗞️.

Our next litter pick will take place on Sunday 12th July Also please see below for all planned litter pick dates throughout 2026 🗓️.

🕤 Start time: 9:30 am - 10:30 am
📍 Location: Between the tennis courts and the Heath Cafe

🌾 Please join us for our next litter pick on the Heath this coming Sunday morning! It is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness and beauty of Therfield Heath while enjoying a stroll with like-minded individuals. In return for your efforts, you can collect a voucher for a free hot or soft drink ☕️ from the Heath Cafe.

Event Details:

Start time: 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Finish picking by noon please.

Location: Meet between the tennis courts and the Heath Cafe to collect your litter pickers and rubbish bags.

Activity: We'll be litter picking across the Heath, ensuring its pristine condition for everyone to enjoy.

What to Bring: Please dress appropriately for the weather 😎 👒and wear sturdy shoes 🥾. We'll provide all the necessary equipment.

Important Notes: Please return your pickers and rubbish bags by 12noon at the latest. In case of extreme weather conditions, the event may be shortened or cancelled.

Your support and participation are invaluable to us, and we're grateful for your dedication to preserving Therfield Heath's natural beauty. Let's work together to make a positive impact on our environment!
