Could you be one of our new Trustees?

We are currently recruiting Charity Trustees to join us on the Bute Advice Centre Board.

Bute Advice Centre provides impartial and confidential advice, primarily focused on Welfare Rights, with the aim of fighting poverty and social exclusion across the area.

We are looking for individuals, who live on Bute, who have the enthusiasm and commitment to provide governance and management support to the charity and the specialist welfare rights team.

We are looking for both Trustees and an Office Bearer, namely a Treasurer, to support the work of our charity. Trustees normally meet 8 times during the calendar year for approximately 2 hours per meeting.

You do not require Board or Trustee experience as you will be supported by our current Trustees.. We currently draw upon a wide range of skills and knowledge and we would be interested to hear what you could positively bring to the Board.

How to apply:

If you are interested and would like to know more, please message our Team directly.
We can arrange for you to speak to a Trustee if you would like an informal conversation before applying.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

πŸ“’ You may be entitled to more financial support than you realise

Many people think Universal Credit is only for people who are unemployed β€” but that is not always the case.

You may still be able to claim if you:
πŸ”Ή work on a low income
πŸ”Ή have children
πŸ”Ή pay rent
πŸ”Ή have a health condition
πŸ”Ή care for someone

🏑 You could also get extra help with housing and childcare costs.

Since April 2026, Universal Credit payments have increased, and some households may now receive more support.

In Scotland, you can also choose to receive payments twice a month to help with budgeting.

Many people put off asking for advice because they assume they will not be eligible β€” but it is always worth checking.

πŸ“ž If you are unsure what help you could get, contact Bute Advice Centre β€” we can help you check what support may be available to you.
