Well we did it! The Radnorshire Road Roller is in the hands of Rhayader Vintage Club and what a road it has been to get here. We have so many people to thank so here goes.
Firstly to the club members past and present who along with the now disbanded Radnorshire committee at Powys County Council, have been stoking the fire for over two decade to ensure the roller was never forgotten about.
To our Ex County Councillor Kelvyn Curry who after the disbanding of the Radnorshire committee kept the roller on the agenda. Passing the mantel on to Cllr Angela Davies who took up the quest from day one of being elected to office and we have a lot to thank them both for and it was lovely to see you both today.
Our club secretary who has spent the last three and a half years corresponding with the local authority to ensure the safe and legal transfer of the roller and ensuring that everything is in place ready for this big day.
To both Powys CC and Tarmac for putting your trust in us to restore this fantastic engine and ensuring its association with Rhayader can continue.
The officers and legal teams from both organisations particular William Beddoes from PCC and Simon from Tarmac for all their efforts.
To all the club members and friends who have assisted along the way, particularly with preparing to house and move the engine which has been no easy job
To Aled and Dai for assisting us with the transport and to Paul for allowing us to load in his yard also the individual who is kindly allowing us to use their storage facilities.
So whats next, well the restoration begins today! We will update you all as soon as we know how big a job we have ahead of us.
