Renfrew Community Council

Renfrew Community Council Renfrew Community Council exists to bring people together, share responsibility, and make sure local voices shape what happens in our town.

Renfrew Collaborates is about making it easier for organisations across Renfrew to work better together.

Across the town, charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, local services and others are doing great work every day.

But sometimes people are working towards similar goals without knowing it. Opportunities to share information, make useful connections or support one another can be missed simply because everyone is busy getting on with the job.

Renfrew Collaborates is about creating a simple, informal space where organisations can connect, share what is happening and explore collaboration where it adds value.
No extra layers. No unnecessary formality.

Just stronger relationships, better connections and more opportunities to work together for Renfrew.

Stronger relationships. Stronger organisations. A stronger Renfrew.

Big news for Longcroft Cottages. 🎉

Our Community Asset Transfer request has been approved in full — a major milestone for Renfrew Development Trust and an exciting step forward for the future of the site.

But this is only the beginning.

Now we want the people of Renfrew to help shape what comes next.

Come along to our Community Drop-In to see the plans, hear more about the next stage and share your ideas for the future of Longcroft Cottages.

Jan and Maureen were out in the town centre yesterday spreading the word about the Community Council and what we do. Had some great chats with fellow Renfrew folk about improvements that are needed and many were interested in coming to our meetings which are the 1st Tuesday of every month in Trinity High School from 7pm. All are welcome at the next one on 1st September.

Great news for Robertson Park. 🌿💧

We’re delighted to share that work on the Robertson Park pond project is due to begin on 1 September.

This is a positive step forward for one of Renfrew’s much-loved green spaces and a great example of what can be achieved through collaboration between Renfrew Development Trust and Renfrewshire Council, with funding from Renfrew Local Partnership.

The planned improvements include:

💧 two new aeration fountains to help improve water quality🌿 cleaning and improvement works around the pond🏝️ work to stabilise the island🛠️ further improvements to support the pond and surrounding area

The new fountains will not only help improve aeration in the pond, but will also add an attractive new feature for visitors to enjoy.

Works are expected to take around six weeks, depending on weather conditions. The pond area will be fenced off while work takes place, but Robertson Park will remain open.

We’re really pleased to see this project moving forward and look forward to seeing the improvements take shape over the coming weeks.

Another positive investment in Robertson Park and another example of organisations working together for Renfrew. đź’š

Please note: The image shown is for illustrative purposes only and is intended to give an indication of how the proposed fountains could look. Final appearance and positioning may differ.

🌸 Best Garden Competition 2026 – Congratulations, Jim! 🌸

A huge congratulations to Jim, the winner of Renfrew Community Council’s Best Garden Competition 2026! 🏆🌼

Jim’s beautiful garden is the result of over 40 years of care, dedication and passion, creating a wonderful outdoor space that he and his family can enjoy every day. When we called to share the news, Jim told us he had “never won anything in my life” and was absolutely over the moon to receive the award.

His story is a lovely reminder that sometimes all it takes is giving something a go. As Jim put it: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

It was a pleasure to visit Jim to present his award in person and to see first-hand the incredible effort that has gone into creating such a colourful, welcoming and immaculately maintained garden.

Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition and helped celebrate the pride so many residents take in making Renfrew a greener, brighter place to live. We hope you’ll all enter again next year!

Congratulations once again, Jim – a thoroughly deserving winner! 🌺🌿🏡
