We are CAFOD in the Diocese of Northampton, your local contact for the Catholic Church’s official aid agency in England and Wales.

A better world needs all of us CAFOD is the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales. We work with partners across the world, wherever the need is greatest, to bring hope, compassion and solidarity to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice. We work with people of all faiths and none. We work with more than 500 partners overseas, and with partners in the UK - all working to reduce poverty. Inspired by Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching, and the experiences and hopes of people living in poverty, CAFOD works for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.

🌾💚 A BIG THANK YOU to the Parish of Our Lady, Milton Keynes! 💚🌾

A huge thank you to the parish for hosting such a meaningful and engaging CAFOD Harvest Family Fast Day! 🙏
A special shout-out to the amazing Parish Volunteer Queen and the CAFOD group, who played a key role in handing out envelopes and delivering the Fast Day talk, helping the parish understand the real difference their support makes to people’s lives. 🌍❤️
It was wonderful to see the children getting involved too! 🎨💧 They drew pictures of Tayla collecting water and were rewarded with CAFOD stickers to celebrate their efforts. The children were given a big round of applause for taking part! 👏😊

Thank you so much to the whole parish and the wonderful CAFOD group for your incredible support, generosity and enthusiasm. A better world needs all of us. 🌍💚

🙏 CAFOD volunteers from the Diocese of Northampton join Adoremus!🙏

What a blessing for our CAFOD Northampton volunteers to join 45 pilgrims from the RC Diocese of Northampton at Adoremus – the National Eucharistic Congress!

The day began with Mass at St George’s Cathedral. We had a message from Pope Leo XIV reminding us that Jesus walks with us everyday. We then had a very inspirational talk from Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe OP on the Eucharist and hope. We then joined a moving Eucharistic procession through London to Westminster Cathedral for Benediction.

💚 As CAFOD volunteers and supporters, we are reminded that our faith calls us to put hope into action — through the way we care for one another, support our neighbours and stand alongside communities around the world facing poverty and injustice.

Our parish volunteer Rose reflected on the day : “Cardinal Radcliffe’s words of hope continued speaking to me when he said “nothing is little in God's hand”. I felt that that is how CAFOD works - giving hope in the midst of challenging situations. Through giving, acting and praying, all this is not little in God's hands. He blesses and multiplies them! It was a very inspiring and motivating day”.

May this encounter with Christ and one another, renew our faith, deepen our hope and inspire us to share his love in our parishes, local communities and beyond. 💚

🌍 Harvest Fast Day at St Edmund’s, Wellingborough

Harvest Fast day was marked on Sunday, 4 October at St Edmund’s, Wellingborough RC Diocese of Northampton with the parish joining in the Fast Day prayer, reflection and shared lunch.

Parish Domnic said, “Reflecting on the Gospel, Fr Paul reminded us of our responsibility to care for Creation and share its fruits fairly. We also launched our parish LiveSimply journey, inviting everyone to participate in working towards the CAFOD LiveSimply Award."

After Mass, they enjoyed a delicious shared lunch while raising funds for CAFOD’s work. ❤️
A huge thank you to everyone who cooked, helped, donated and supported the day.

🎨 Sip, Paint & Support CAFOD! 🍰💚

Parishioners and friends from St Joseph and Our Lady of Ransom Parishes in Bedford came together for a fun-filled evening of sipping, painting and community spirit!
The idea came from Krystelle, one of the parish CAFOD volunteers, who had enjoyed a similar event elsewhere and suggested bringing the idea to the group. Together with fellow volunteer Mechelle, they organised an evening that proved to be a wonderful success.

Inspired by CAFOD’s floating gardens, everyone got busy with their brushes and palettes, creating their own colourful masterpieces. And, of course, there were plenty of yummy cakes and drinks to keep everyone refreshed! 🎨☕🍰

Everyone agreed it was a fantastic evening, with one participant saying:
💬 “What a lovely evening. I might not have a masterpiece going home, but I’ve really enjoyed the experience – as well as the cakes and drink!”
And the evening raised over £250 for CAFOD! 🙌

Krystelle said: “It brought the community together in such a fun way and raised much-needed funds for CAFOD.”

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who organised and took part in the Sip & Paint evening. What a wonderful idea — and what a lovely way to bring people together while supporting CAFOD! 💚

Another fab CAFOD Supporter Day - Wendover!

For our final supporter day this harvest, it was just great to welcome 30 amazing for a day of faith, inspiration and action. It was even more special as we had several new volunteers! 🙌

We prayed for all those who couldn’t be with us and for the work of CAFOD. It was great fun exploring Justice & Peace in Scripture and seeing how it connects with CAFOD’s work.

We were very privileged to hear from Verity Johnson, CAFOD’s Head of Africa and the Middle East, who shared first-hand insights into CAFOD’s work, particularly the long-term development. Her stories were truly eye-opening and inspired us all.

We also shared ideas about making CAFOD Fast Days really effective in our parishes. A huge thank you to our amazing Michael and Oliver.
Michael shared his experience of how their muti-parish group raised over £1.8k from their quiz night and was happy to share it with anyone.
Oliver gave a very clear guide to using the Dona contactless machines to help those who don’t bring cash. Their parish has raised loads more this way.
They were both so helpful!

The day was so invigorating and several volunteers said they were going to try something new this Harvest Fast Day and we look forward to hearing about how it went.

We were thrilled that a guest who came along was happy to volunteer in her parish! 🤩

🌍 What a fantastic CAFOD Supporter Day in Milton Keynes! 🙏

It was wonderful to welcome over 30 amazing CAFOD volunteers from the RC Diocese of Northampton for a day of faith, inspiration and action.

We opened and closed our day with prayer, which created such a lovely atmosphere. We also explored Justice & Peace in Scripture and how it connects with CAFOD’s work. It was a powerful reminder that Justice and Peace are at the heart of the Gospel! ❤️

We were very privileged to hear from Kayode Akintola, CAFOD’s Head of Africa, who shared insights into CAFOD’s work, particularly long-term development and his experience working alongside partners and faith leaders in the DR Congo, Sudan and South Sudan. His stories were truly eye-opening and inspired us all to think about what more we can do.

We also shared ideas about making CAFOD Fast Days really effective in our parishes. A huge thank you to our brilliant Queen, Krystelle and Paul, who shared their experiences of organising Fast Days, events and even birthday parties to support CAFOD’s work! 🎉

Their ideas gave us lots of inspiration for new ways to engage our parish communities, friends and families. Perhaps you’ll try something new this Harvest Fast Day? 🌾

St Augustine parish in Milton Keynes RC Diocese of Northampton is the latest parish to add their voice to CAFOD's campaign for action on global debt. ✍️

On the Feast of St. John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests, we give thanks for all priests, especially those in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton, who faithfully support us in living out our ministry of outreach inspired by Gospel values. Through their guidance, encouragement and service, we are able to flourish as a parish community.

By supporting our CAFOD appeals, sharing our campaign messages, and making our fundraising efforts possible, our priests help us put faith into action and stand in solidarity with our global family.

On this special feast day, we pray for all priests across the world. May God continue to bless them with wisdom, strength and joy as they shepherd His people.

What a fantastic evening of fun, friendship and fundraising!

Our wonderful CAFOD from three parishes – St Augustine's (High Wycombe), St Dunstan's (Bourne End) and St Teresa's (Beaconsfield) in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton – came together to organise a brilliant Quiz Night at St Teresa's Parish Centre.

A huge thank you to Margaret for producing a wonderfully challenging set of quiz questions, and to parish priest Fr Sean, who did a fantastic job as quiz master, keeping the evening running smoothly. Everyone also enjoyed a delicious fish and chip supper.

Alongside the quiz, the raffle, bar and auction helped raise over £1840!🙌 This will go towards supporting CAFOD's work with communities around the world.

Reflecting on the evening, CAFOD volunteer Sheila said:

"Moments like this remind me that fundraising isn't just about the total at the end of the night. It's about people giving up their time, supporting one another and coming together because they want to make a difference."

What a wonderful example of parish communities working together in support of our global family. BIG THANK YOU to everyone who organised, donated, volunteered and took part. Your generosity, dedication and enthusiasm made the event such a great success!

Well done Holy Family Langley (RC Diocese of Northampton) for getting 348 signatures on the CAFOD petition calling on the UK government to :

Pass legislation to ensure private lenders can no longer make huge profits from countries struggling with unsustainable debts

Use the UK's presidency of the G20 in 2027 to fix the global debt system.

Big thanks to Eileen & Pauline, 2 of our amazing CAFOD , and all those who encouraged parishioners to sign the petition. You are helping to make a big difference to the lives of many.
