We are absolutely over the moon to announce that Cariad Children's Project has received funding from BBC Children in Need! 💛
Funding like this goes such a long way in helping us to continue the work we do, supporting children and families in and around Pontardawe and making a positive difference in our community. 💛 Every bit of support helps us reach more people and continue providing the services that mean so much to those who need them.💛

Christmas is fast approaching and we will be holding a Christmas event at Cariad (details to follow).
We are looking for a 6ft Christmas tree for the centre, so if anyone is getting rid of one that they would like to donate, please get in touch 🌟 🎄 🌟

🌱💚 INTRODUCING CARIAD CORNER – GROWING BRIGHTER FUTURES TOGETHER! 💚🌱

Cariad Children’s Project is delighted to be developing Cariad Corner, an exciting community garden project in collaboration with Glantawe Riverside Park.

Thanks to Riverside generously making land available, we are creating an opportunity for local children to get involved in growing vegetables, herbs, flowers and plants while learning about nature, sustainability and the environment.

We want to give children the opportunity to:
🌱 Learn how to grow their own food and understand where it comes from.
🌼 Explore nature and discover the importance of protecting our environment.
🌿 Develop practical skills, confidence and creativity.
🌻 Make decisions about what they grow and how their produce is used and shared.
🤝 Work together, build friendships and feel part of their local community.

We also hope to explore creative activities using what we grow, including drying herbs and lavender, flower pressing and natural crafts.

At the heart of Cariad Corner is a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, whatever their family circumstances.

We are incredibly grateful to Glantawe Riverside Park for helping us bring this vision to life. By working together, we hope to create something positive and lasting for children and families across Pontardawe and the surrounding Swansea Valley 💛💚💙

This clock stopped at 9.13am on October 21, 1966, just as thousands of tonnes of coal slurry engulfed a school and homes in the village of Aberfan.

116 children and 28 adults died that day.

Today marks 60 years since the disaster. We will never forget them ❤️

A little extra support for school everyday essentials can make a big difference 🎒

Eligible families can receive up to £200 through the School Essentials Grant to help with school essentials, including uniform and PE kit.

Applying will also mean your child’s school receives additional funding for extracurricular activities such as clubs and trips.
