🏕️🌲 End of Year Camp at Baronscourt 🌲🏕️

What a fantastic way to finish off a great year of Scouting!

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts camped over on Friday night at Baronscourt, with some of our Squirrels joining us on Saturday for a day of activities 🌟

On Friday evening, we gathered around the fire to make delicious s’mores 🔥🍫 and learned how to roll our scarves and have a go at tying a friendship knot.

Saturday was full of hands-on activities, including flint and steel fire lighting, backwoods cooking, first aid, and some creative crafts using paracord and loom bands 🧭⛑️🔥

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, learning new skills, making memories, and enjoying the outdoors together.

A huge thank you to all of our leaders and parent volunteers who gave up their time to help make the camp run so smoothly. We couldn’t do it without your support 👏💚

We hope everyone has a fantastic summer, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September for another year of adventure!

🌧️🌲 Squirrels & Beavers Adventure in Gortin! 🥾

Our Squirrels and Beavers had a wonderful (and wet!) evening exploring Gortin this week ☔🌿

The weather certainly didn’t stop the fun as we headed outdoors to discover the forest, explore the river, and enjoy everything nature had to offer. There may even have been a few wet feet along the way! 💦👣

One of the highlights of the evening was spotting deer in their natural habitat 🦌, before finishing off our adventure with some well-earned fun in the play park 🛝

A fantastic evening of outdoor adventure, exploration, and plenty of smiles despite the rain. Well done everyone! 👏

🌲🥾 Cubs & Scouts Gortin Walk!

Our Cubs and Scouts had a cracking evening for their walk up Gortin ☀️🌿

With brilliant weather and great company, the group enjoyed getting outdoors and taking in the scenery 🧭🗺️

There were plenty of smiles, laughs, and tired legs by the end of the evening — the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine and prepare for camp adventures ahead 🏕️

🌲🧭 Cubs & Scouts Adventure Planning!

Tonight our Cubs and Scouts got organised for their upcoming adventures 🌟

The group worked together to decide on their route for their walk around Gortin, using all the map and navigation skills they’ve been learning over the past few weeks 🗺️🧭

We also put together a kit list for our end-of-year camp, discussing what clothing and equipment we’ll need to stay safe, comfortable, and prepared for a great time outdoors 🏕️

⛑️🌟 Squirrels & Beavers First Aid Night!

Tonight our Squirrels and Beavers began learning some important first aid skills 🚑

We talked about how to safely approach someone who may need help, how to look out for dangers around us so we don’t get hurt ourselves, and how to call 999 in an emergency 📞

The group then got hands-on learning about bandaging injuries, focusing on ankles and heads, before having a go at CPR ❤️

The children gave everything a brilliant try and quickly realised that first aid can be tricky — but they all did an amazing job learning these important life skills 👏

☀️🌳 Squirrels & Beavers at Grange Play Park!

Tonight our Squirrels and Beavers made the most of the brilliant weather with a trip to the Grange Play Park 🌞

Everyone had a fantastic time climbing, running, playing, and burning off lots of energy with their friends 😄

By the end of the evening, there were plenty of tired legs and puffed out faces after all the fun! 💨😂

A lovely evening outdoors enjoying the sunshine and making memories together 🌲💚

🌲⚽ Cubs & Scouts Outdoor Fun!

This week our Cubs and Scouts had a great mix of learning and fun! 🌟

We started with a discussion about what we would need for our upcoming trip to Gortin — thinking about the right clothing and essential kit for camping 🏕️🧥

Then it was time to get active! The group enjoyed a game of rounders, followed by team tag and football out in the field ⚽🏃‍♂️

Some of the group also took the opportunity to check in on their bug hotels 🐞🏡

To finish off the evening, we played a classic game of Wink Murder — always a favourite! 👀

A great evening with lots of energy and preparation for our next adventure 🌄

🌟🌲 Squirrels & Beavers Youth-Led Evening!

Tonight was all about our young people taking the lead, as our Squirrels and Beavers enjoyed a “youth-led” evening — choosing exactly what they wanted to do! 🙌

We headed out to the field and packed the evening with fun activities, including football ⚽, tug of war 💪, and even some minibeast hunting 🔍🐜

It was great to see their ideas come to life and plenty of smiles all around 😊

🌿🦋 Cubs & Scouts Naturalist Adventure!

This week our Cubs and Scouts were busy finishing off their Naturalist Badge with a visit back to the same natural area 🌲

They took notes on how the environment has changed over time and worked hard identifying different living things around them 📝🔍

Linking in with our bug hotels, we went on a minibeast hunt — and what a great variety we found! 🐜 We spotted beetles, millipedes, midges, spiders, flies, a bee, woodlice, and slugs.

We also kept an eye on the skies and water, identifying birds including ducks, a blackbird, a heron, and magpies 🐦

A fantastic session full of observation, teamwork, and learning about the world around us 🌍 Well done everyone! 👏

🌟🎲 Squirrels & Beavers Games Night!

Tonight our Squirrels and Beavers took a break from badge work and enjoyed an evening of games and puzzles 😄

We kicked things off with a quick recap from last week with a game of North, South, East, West 🧭 before moving on to one of their favourites — a scavenger hunt! 🔍 The group split into teams and were challenged to find letters and unjumble them to make their word. There was great teamwork on display, and some very clever thinking when choosing which word to hunt for! 👏

We then played the classic Scout Kim’s Game — and wow, the kids were far too good at it! 👀

To finish off, we headed out to the field for some extra fun and games 🌲⚽

A brilliant evening full of teamwork and energy — well done everyone!
