🌟 A Busy Weekend for 4th Tyrone Scout Group! 🌟
It was all go this weekend across all our sections!
On Friday night, our Beaver section kicked things off with a brilliant sleepover in the clubrooms at Drumragh GAC. A huge thank you to them for hosting us! 🙌
The Beavers enjoyed a torchlit nighttime hike, followed by a campfire where they toasted marshmallows and sang their favourite campfire songs. Indoors, they showed off their artistic skills before nestling down for the night in their tents. Our youngest section certainly set the bar high for the rest of the group! 🦫🔥
On Saturday, with the sun shining for the first time in weeks ☀️, it was the turn of the Cubs and Scouts to head off for a one-night residential at the fabulous Gortin Outdoor Activity Centre – such a fantastic facility right on our doorstep! A big thank you to the team there! 👏
The Cubs had a packed programme including team-building games, backwoods cooking over an open fire, practising their pioneering skills to build a bridge over a stream, and taking part in a nightline.
Our Scout section practised important skills ahead of the upcoming Erne County Shield – including pitching and striking an Icelandic patrol tent, preparing an altar fire, and learning how to safely chop and prepare firewood. 🪓⛺
The highlight of the camp was the campfire, where we sang together, enjoyed the hilarious skits the Cubs had prepared, and of course tucked into some delicious s’mores. 🔥🎶
A very special thank you to Mark and Gerry, who gave up both nights of their birthday weekend to help run these activities for our youth members.
Well done to all our young people and leaders for such a memorable weekend of adventure, teamwork and fun!
