We want to say a huge thank you to Kat from ‘Zumba with Kat’ and her amazing group of ladies who took part in a fundraising Salsa class this evening at Romanby WI Hall, despite the heat they danced their way to raising a grand total of £222 towards our new roof. 👏👏👏👏

87 years ago our predecessors had a vision to bring people together and build a hub for the community. This story is shown in the pictures below.
Today as the custodians of this lovely hall, we are determined to continue that vision and save Romanby WI Hall.
It has a long and varied history and our appeal for a desperately needed new roof will allow us to maintain the hall and continue that legacy.
The hall is used by many, young and old and your help to preserve this local gem by giving a donation, however small, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Romanby WI Hall needs your help!

Please help us raise the remaining £15,000 needed for a new roof for Romanby WI Hall

Romanby WI Hall opened in April 1939 thanks to a generous gift of land and lots of hard work and determination by a group of forward-thinking women. Having stood for 87 years this timber building is unique to the parish. Although owned and run by Romanby Women’s Institute, the Hall has long been an important part of community life. We hear heart-warming stories of weddings, health clinics, school dinners and more.

Today the Hall is used by the charity Romanby WI and provides a space for several local community groups, clubs and events.
We have recently learnt that the roof on the Hall was intended to last 25 to 30 years. Having kept us dry for 87 years it has done remarkably well, but is now leaking. We urgently need a new roof! We have £20,000 of our own money ready to put towards the project but need another £15,000 to complete the job before winter.

Without a roof, our hall would be no more, which would be devastating not only for the WI but for the whole of Romanby! So, we are asking for your help – please give as generously as you can afford.

We are pleased to announce that Emma and Craig from Side Burner will be holding a Pyrography Workshop at Romanby WI Hall on Wednesday 12th August 10am -1pm.
We have hosted two of these workshops at Romanby WI and our members have had some fantastic results.
You will start with a sample piece before moving onto your final piece and with the guidance of Emma and Craig you take home a completed board.
We will let you into a little secret, you don’t need to be able to draw or have any artistic experience for this workshop and as you will see from the photos there is a large selection of images to choose from.
