Remembering Ursla Oburu Achieng 🤍
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, colleague and much-loved member of the SAFE International and Children’s Transformation Project–Kenya (CTP-K) family, Ursla Oburu Achieng.
Our journey with Ursla began many years ago, when we first employed her as a social worker. She was exceptional in her work, bringing compassion, wisdom and unwavering dedication to the children and families she served. We were proud to cheer her on as she progressed into government probation work and later took on the role of Chairlady and Board Member at CTP-K.
It was a privilege to witness her journey. Ursla’s commitment to children and families was evident in everything she did, and her leadership at CTP-K was invaluable. She gave generously of her experience, time and heart to a mission we shared, protecting children, strengthening families and helping children grow up in the love and security they deserve.
The space she leaves behind will be incredibly difficult to fill. Her contribution will not be measured by the roles she held, but by the lives she touched and the difference she made.
Today, beyond her professional achievements, we remember a friend who was dearly loved. Our hearts are especially with her four daughters, who now face the unimaginable loss of their mum, having also lost their father in a tragic road collision two years ago.
In the coming days, we will share details of a dedicated collection to support the girls’ education and psychosocial wellbeing. Our hope is to help provide the stability, care and opportunities they need as they navigate life without their parents.
We hold her daughters, wider family, friends and colleagues in our thoughts and prayers, asking God to surround them with His comfort, strength and peace in the days ahead.
We are deeply grateful for the years we shared with Ursla, for her friendship, her service and the legacy she leaves within the work we continue together.
