Its good to have the Scrabo Presbyterian Church on-board this year as we continue to grow this community event .We will have the Rev Gary Ball doing a Speech from Scrabo along side the West Winds Community Churches Minister Paul Hawkins and local councillor Cllr Steven Irvine .

We look forward to seeing all the community coming along to support this act of Remembrance.

Thanks to everyone that came out this morning to get the road verges all cut from the Memorial garden down to the shops . And a big thanks for the boys painting at the garden and the Crosses to have everything ready for the community Row on Row service on Thursday 5th November.

The recent decision by the Secretary of State to reverse a position that had been upheld through the courts has left many people angry, frustrated, and questioning whether the rule of law still applies equally to everyone.
It was not that long ago that peaceful protesters in our own town saw dawn raids carried out on 12 homes, individuals spending months in prison, and strict bail conditions imposed that continue to this day. They followed the instructions given to them by the PSNI, yet they felt the full force of the legal system.
Where was the flexibility then? Where was the understanding? Where was the invitation to sit down over a coffee and discuss concerns?
Instead, law-abiding people were treated as criminals while now it appears that threats, intimidation, and the prospect of disorder are rewarded with political concessions. The perception created by this decision is deeply damaging and raises serious questions about consistency, fairness, and accountability.
Perhaps the biggest question of all is this:
Where does the loyalist and unionist community go from here in terms of working with the PSNI in their local communities?
For years, communities have been encouraged to engage positively, build relationships and support policing. Yet many will now ask what message is being sent when those who work within the law face the harshest consequences, while others appear to achieve their objectives through pressure and intimidation.
That is not the foundation on which trust is built.
The public deserve answers. They deserve consistency. And they deserve to know that court decisions and the rule of law cannot simply be overturned when enough pressure is applied.
Many ordinary people will look at this and conclude there is one rule for those who respect the law and another for those who threaten disorder. If that perception is allowed to take hold, the damage to public confidence will be immense.
The rule of law must be applied equally, fairly, and without fear or favour. Anything less undermines confidence in the very institutions that are supposed to protect it.

** COMMUNITY ROW ON ROW SERVICE **

After last year's hugely successful service we are delighted to confirm this years Row on Row will take place on Thursday 5th November at 7pm. As last year,the service will be held beside the Memorial Garden at the Community Centre in the West Winds Estate.
This year's speeches and prayers will be conducted by Councillor Steven Irvine along with Paul Hawkins, minister from West Winds Community Church and the Rev Gary Ball from the Scrabo Presbyterian Church .
Once again the 36th Volunteers Memorial Flute Band will join us, leaving the shops approximately 6.30pm to make their way round and join us for the 7pm service.
This is open to ALL community groups and ALL the public to lay a wreath or place a cross in the ground in memory of the fallen and/or loved ones who have left us.
Hot drinks will be available in the Community Centre and we can't stress enough this service is open for EVERYONE to attend and hopefully we get the fantastic turnout of groups and public we had at last years service 🇬🇧

Big year for the band coming up .Everyone more than welcome 🪈🥁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The winter months is some of the most important months for any flute band, we are no different, with plenty of plans in the making to celebrate our 45th anniversary in 2027.

The band will take the winter months to learn new material and make sure everyone is equipped for the 2027 season, so if you have thought about coming along, then now is the time to come and join the N.P.B💙🇬🇧

This Wednesday there will be another walk and talk leaving the shops at 6.30 . If looking to get out of the house for an hour to clear the head and chat with someone come along your more than welcome .

Well what can we say another great talk and presentation by Quincey Dougan of Bygone Days on South Armagh last night and another full house . We would just like to thank everyone for the support we get from the local community and further afield when putting these events on .

These talks are important so we don't let the Republican propaganda machine try and rewrite history or glamorise their bloody slaughter of the Protestant people over many decades .People need to know the truth.

We also like to thank Sammy from the Arches Cafe for supplying the food .
