The Link Family and Community Centre An active Christian presence in the community The Link Family and Community Centre seeks to serve as an active Christian presence in Ards and North Down.

We offer programmes for young people (LYFE), adults wrestling with addiction and housing issues (MARC), and language classes for those for whom English is not their first language. To contact our MARC-IT Charity Shop, please ring 02891 822312. We also provide volunteering opportunities for people to come and get involved, using their gifts and talents to help others and create a much more inclusive community where no-one should feel alone or of no value.

It is with immense sadness that we learned of the passing of our former Centre Co-Ordinator, Cliff Kennedy.

Cliff led The Link through a very challenging period of transition and his skill and extensive experience of our sector were invaluable.

Cliff also led the organisation through the Covid pandemic and his professionalism, governance knowledge and due diligence were very obvious and appreciated.

On behalf of our Board, Staff and Volunteers, our thoughts and prayers are with Cliff's wife Heather Kennedy and children, Mark Kennedy Vicky, Kerrie and Kyle and the wider family.

We are particularly thinking of Mark Kennedy who is our Charity Shop Manager at The Link.

🎅 WE NEED YOUR HELP THIS CHRISTMAS! ❤️🎄

This Christmas, we’re coming together with local community groups, schools, charities and agencies across Newtownards to provide much-needed food and festive support to families and individuals in our area. Our goal is to create 500 Christmas food hampers for people who need a little extra support this Christmas. Every single donation will go directly to a local family or individual through one of our amazing community partners. ❤️

🎁 HOW YOU CAN HELP
Whether you’re a charity, community group, church, school, scout or brownie group, shop, business, family or individual, we’d love you to get involved!

We’re looking for donations of food and festive treats, including:

🍪 Biscuits & shortbread

MARC Drop-In Annual Fishing Trip!

All had a fantastic day at Beechhill Fishery, run by NICCA. There was plenty of food, fun and, most importantly, fish! 🎣

Everyone managed to catch something, including rudd, roach, carp and even a few eels! It was a brilliant day of fishing, good company and plenty of laughs. A big thank you to NICCA for helping make the day such a success! 👏

Come to The Link Centre in Newtownards for ESOL classes.

Learn English in beginners classes.
Study English for Driving , where you will learn the language you need to study for your driving theory test .

English for Life in The UK test will get you started on your journey to ILR or citizenship exams .
Improvers English will help you with reading, writing, listening and speaking English at entry 2 and entry 3 levels.

The Steppingstone class on Monday mornings is for women . Babies and preschool children are welcome with their mothers at this ESOL class.

We can tell you all about the work we’re doing in our community, from supporting people facing addiction and debt, to helping young families with parenting support and welcoming newcomers through English classes.
