Community Cupboard CIC

Community Cupboard CIC Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. Welcome to Community Cupboard Clayton CIC 16477236 - Together we can create a hunger free community.

Community Cupboard NUL CIC provides free, dignified food support for working individuals and families in Newcastle-under-Lyme, offering barrier‑free access, practical help, and community‑led support. Our food mission is designed to make sure that the people in our community have access to the essential food items they need to thrive. The harsh reality is that food insecurity is an ongoing struggle

for many in the UK. Behind every statistic is a story of a family, an individual, or a child facing uncertainty about their next meal. This alarming trend underscores the importance of our work and the need for continued support. Together, we can make a tangible difference and ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food. Our main hub is located inside Simply Local, Clayton Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we effectively redistribute surplus food to those who need it most.

Community Cupboard NUL CIC is ready for its next chapter, and we’re reaching out to the people who can help make it happen. We’re looking for a permanent home in Newcastle‑under‑Lyme, somewhere we can store food safely, work from with dignity, and create a welcoming space for the families who rely on us.

Community centres have been kind in offering suggestions, but their rooms are only available for short‑term hire. What we need now is a space of our own: ideally an unused shop or small premises that we can transform into a FoodBank Hub and, in time, a Social Supermarket that gives people choice and hope.

If you’re a landlord, business owner, sponsor, or someone with a space that’s sitting empty, we would be incredibly grateful to talk. We’re applying for funding, but having a premises is the key that unlocks everything else.

Your support could genuinely change lives in our community.

My office for the day at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce — a fantastic space to connect, collaborate, and meet other businesses across Staffordshire.

Yesterday, Uday and I celebrated one year of Community Cupboard CIC, a milestone that reflects the hard work, heart, and community spirit that has shaped our journey so far.

We’re no longer based at Newcastle Family Hub and have recently relocated, which means we’re now on the lookout for a new free space to operate from as we continue supporting families across our community.

In the meantime, we’re incredibly grateful to Simply Local (Clayton Road), who have generously allowed us to store everything safely in their shop. Their support has made a huge difference during this transition, and it’s a reminder of how vital our local convenience stores are — not just as businesses, but as community partners who step up when it matters most.

Here’s to the next chapter of Community Cupboard, and to building even stronger connections across Staffordshire.

Community Cupboard is celebrating one amazing year — a journey that began with just two founders, Thomas and Uday, determined to make sure no family in our community went without support. In twelve months, that small start has grown into a warm, trusted space powered by kindness, dignity, and incredible local support. Thank you to our volunteers, partners, and every family who’s been part of this story. Here’s to another year of lifting each other up and making a real difference together.

We’re taking a short break to “restock the shelves” and serve up something even better! Community Cupboard is temporarily closing while we make some big improvements — including a fresh‑look website, click‑to‑order support, and local pickup points within Newcastle-under-Lyme.

These changes will help us look more modern and dignity‑focused, making life easier for the hardworking people we support.

We’re “kneading” a little time to get everything just right, but don’t worry — we’re still here behind the scenes to support our service users, ensuring no one is left out or goes hungry. Think of it as a quick “reheat” before we dish out an even warmer, more accessible Community Cupboard experience!
