2nd Silverdale Brownies Unit We’re 2nd Silverdale Brownies unit, encouraging girls aged 7 to 10 to have fun, seek adventure, and find the space to discover their potential.

For so many girls across Britain, being a Brownie was about far more than wearing the uniform. It was an adventure filled with friendship, fun and the excitement of learning something new every week. Tying your yellow neckerchief just right, polishing your shoes and proudly sewing new badges onto your sash were all part of the experience. Brownie meetings were packed with games, crafts, songs and activities that built confidence and created memories that have lasted a lifetime. For many, it was the first taste of independence and belonging to something special.

There was always something to look forward to, whether it was a camping trip, a summer outing, a sponsored walk or helping out in the local community. Brownies taught kindness, teamwork and respect while making every achievement feel like a real milestone. Earning a new badge was a moment of pride, and bringing it home to show the family felt like winning a trophy. Lifelong friendships were formed in village halls, church halls and community centres where laughter echoed through every meeting and every adventure.

Looking back today, those Brownie days remind us of a simpler time when childhood was spent making memories instead of staring at screens. The values, friendships and confidence gained during those years stayed with many long after the uniform was folded away for the last time. It is no surprise that so many people still look back on their Brownie days with warmth, gratitude and a smile that has never faded.

🚨 Is your daughter missing out? 🚨

Our Brownies are:

🎂 Making and Decorating cakes
🚒 Visiting fire station
☀️🌻enjoying outdoor activities
🚀 Exploring space
👗 Becoming fashion designers
🎨 Creating art masterpieces
🏅 Earning badges they’ll proudly show everyone they meet

But the real magic isn’t the activities.

It’s watching a shy 7-year-old walk through the door holding Mum’s hand…

…and a few months later seeing a confident young girl chatting with friends, trying new things and discovering just how amazing she is.

It may also result in an unstoppable desire to tell you EVERYTHING that happened at Brownies before you’ve even left the car park.
2nd Silverdale Brownies currently has LOTS of spaces available for girls aged 7-10.
We have also opened a new Guide unit for girls aged 10-14

😂 A Quick Guide to Guiding at Any Age 😂

Some people think Guiding is something you do when you’re young.

But anyone who’s been around for a while knows that’s… not quite how it works.

Because Guiding has a strange habit of following you through life.

It usually starts something like this:

🌈 Age 5–10
You come for the games.
You stay for the crafts.
You accidentally learn loads of skills.

🧭 Teen years
You realise you can lead games, help younger members and do some pretty amazing things.

🙋‍♀️ Adult leader stage
You suddenly own a suspicious amount of craft supplies.
You can organise 20 children, three activities and a biscuit break with military precision.

You also regularly find things in your pockets when you get home such as:
• glue lids
• string
• random beads
• half a sticker sheet

✨ Later in life
You discover you still love the laughter, the friendships and the slightly chaotic fun.

So you stay involved through things like Trefoil Guild.

Because the truth is…

Guiding isn’t really something you grow out of.

It’s more something that quietly becomes part of who you are.

Also…

Once you’ve learned the correct way to toast a marshmallow, that knowledge is basically for life.

So yes - you absolutely can be involved in Guiding at any age.

Fair warning though:

You may develop strong opinions about biscuits, crafts, and the correct volume for campfire songs. 💙
