☀️Dappled sunshine beaming through the woodlands, magic and majestic - let's keep it that way.

👉If visiting any countryside places this here are just a few tips to help keep these places beautiful and thriving for nature and for people:

❌No BBQs or fires - pack a picnic & take all the litter home with you
🦮Clean up after your dog, bag it, bin it & if there's no bins take it home with you
✅Leave no trace of your visit, just footprints or pawprints
🐮Be respectful of farmland, it's someone's work your walking through

🌿Wishing everyone a lovely and nature filled

🌿For hundreds of thousands of years - long before cities and skyscrapers existed, we evolved within the natural world. The hustle and bustle of modern life can sometimes disconnect us from nature, but it's important to go back to our roots, and Amanda from can help gently guide the way.

🌳To forest-bath is to be with the light seeping through the canopy or the buzz of sounds that come and go. The loose yourself for a moment as the smell of earth drifts upwards after the rain or to feel the warm breeze on your skin as summer grows closer.

🌿It is a walking practice, but so much more than a walk in the woods. It's the art of slowing down, using all your senses to notice what surrounds you. Experiencing through the body not the mind - and in doing so, returning to the state your physiology and nervous system was designed to naturally thrive in.

👉Join Amanda a certified Forest-Bathing Guide for forest-bathing experiences at Alderley Edge National Trust, visit to find out more.

📌Next dates Sat 16 May and Sat 13 June.

🐦Bird nesting season is in full swing amongst the ancient woodlands of Alderley Edge. This time of year makes for the perfect opportunity to do some birdwatching; when the tree canopies are a hive of activity.

🐦‍⬛Woodland birds are flitting about to find a partner, gather food, water and nesting materials. Birdwatchers will also be richly rewarded with the glorious sounds of bird calls and songs - one of nature's finest melodies.

💚To help our feathered friends, the rangers and volunteers have installed extra bird boxes and have cleaned and repaired empty ones, ready for any new bird families.

🌳Wander the woodlands and look out for treecreepers, blue t**s, pied flycatchers, house sparrows, nuthatch, willow t**s and marsh t**s.

🌳The ancient woodlands of Alderley Edge have had a much deserved spring clean, and we can only hope that one day, litter picking isn't needed.

🦸‍♀️A team of Earth Day heroes gave up their time to look after the place they love and to give back to nature, and we just love them for it 🫶 What they had to pick up was, to politely put it, stomach turning, but the results after were wonderful.

🤝It's up to everyone that visits this beautiful woodland and any countryside site to take what they bring with them, home, and leave no trace of their visit, apart from footsteps or pawprints.

🗑The average cost of installing and emptying one bin in a local park is estimated at around £2,000 and this price only increases with harder to reach areas in the countryside.

🌿As a conservation charity, we encourage everyone to leave the places that they love to explore, clean and thriving, so that our charitable funds can be spent on supporting nature and maintenance of the sites - thank you 🙏

🌛Night time nature.

😴Nocturnal wonders like bats and moths can be found navigating ancient woodlands like Alderley Edge but like all creatures great and small, need somewhere to lay their heads and catch some zzzzz

🦇Bats may opt for a few favoured day roosts and moths will find a dark, quiet place. If you're lucky enough to have bats or moths that choose your house, shed or office (as we found with this brown long-eared bat) to get some shut eye, then leave them be. Other than cranky moths and bats, here's some good reasons to look after these small, night-time wonders:

🦋Moths are night-time pollinators - they do the night shift whilst bees, wasps and butterflies rest - contributing to plant reproduction, biodiversity and healthy crops.
🦋Moths will also go into towns and cities to pollinate, which is critical in helping small pockets of green spaces in these areas, to thrive.
🦇Bats, yes you better believe it, pollinate plants!
🦇Bats also disperse seeds and eat insects which damage crops.
🦇All bat species, their breeding sites and resting places are fully protected by law.

🐣Across the countryside places in our care, new life is being born - from bouncy lambs in fields, hidden chicks in nests on the ground to curious calves exploring the hillsides.

👉On Open Access land, between 1 March and 31 July, all dogs must be on a lead in areas where sheep, cattle and birds that nest on the ground are. Please look for signs, be aware and be respectful of livestock, wildlife and farmers.

✅Always clean up your dog’s 💩 because it can cause illness in people, livestock and wildlife.

❌Never leave bags of dog 💩 anywhere, even if you intend to pick them up later. Deodorised bags and containers can make bags of dog 💩 easier to carry. If you cannot find a public waste bin, you should take it home and use your own bin.
