JUST ONE HOUR!

That's all it takes to make a HUGE difference to a local person's life.

We started on day one of lockdown as a little idea to help our neighbours. We didn't have a name but within a fortnight we had over 40 volunteers.

At the height of lockdown we had 120 volunteers.

Six years later, at least half of our current 44 volunteers from the early days are still with us and we are unbelievably grateful for their dedication and commitment to making a difference to local lonely or socially isolated people.

BUT lockdown may be in the distant past but sadly the need for our helping hands team is needed more than ever!

Just 30-90 mins a week or a fortnight can make a real difference to someone struggling in Nantwich.

Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about becoming a Buddy.

📍 11:00am – Move for Independence
Civic Hall
Community-based Falls Prevention

This is our final Move for Independence session at the Civic Hall. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has attended, supported, and helped make this group such a success.

➡️ Move for Independence will now be held at our Rehabilitation Suite, where we look forward to continuing to help people improve their strength, balance, confidence, and independence.

📍 11:00am – Thursday Club
Dementia-Specific Group
🧠 Exercise & Brain Health

A safe, supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers, focusing on movement, connection, and maintaining wellbeing.

📍 2:00pm – Barony Lodge
Falls Prevention Exercise Session
(Residents Only)

Supporting residents through tailored exercise, movement, and activities that promote confidence, mobility, and independence.

We are incredibly honoured to support our local community every day. Whether it's through group sessions, home visits, care home support, or specialist rehabilitation, we never take for granted the trust that people place in us.

Thank you to everyone who supports Maintain Independence and allows us to do what we love. ❤️

Our usual Wednesday morning Coffee & Company Group (Nantwich Civic Hall) swapped venues this week and found their sea legs along the canal in Audlem! A jolly old time was had by all despite the weather, followed by afternoon tea!

Thanks to Overwater Marina, Audlem, Overwater Wheelyboat Services and of course the Buddies Civic C& C team for organising the event!

Tonight's the night!

Hi! I'm Frosty (my real name is Lee but nobody calls me that). I moved to Nantwich with my wife 5 years ago after looking for a better quality of life and a greater sense of community in a gorgeous town. Somehow, I still haven't found the time or space for that community. I'm in my early 50s and between working away 3 days a week and the other 2 from home it hasn't left much space for meaningful social connection. I have the feeling I'm not the only man experiencing this but its hard to find spaces to meet other men or find a reason to get out and do it- so, along with Andreas (his post is coming) we are starting up a new group at the garden and it would be great to have you come along. Our first ever Men's Group starts next Wednesday 20th May 6-7.30pm (check out of the event page) . I'm not much of a gardener, nor am I a whizz with woodwork so please don't let that put you off. See you there?

If you are at a loose end on Thursday 4th June pop along, we're learning how to crochet whilst listening to a lovely choir in these beautiful surroundings!

Our Menopause & Mojito's group enjoyed an energising taster session at Moveology Studio in Nantwich last week.

Studio owner Lottie gave us a brilliant introduction to the benefits of and especially for women of menopausal age.

The feedback afterwards was overwhelming positive with several of the group of ladies keen to join a full class.

With new classes being launched weekly, there is sure to be a weekly class or two that would suit your schedule so why not give it a go?
