We provide people with the foundation of a home and life-changing tailored support. We're here for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We see the person and their strengths – and help them get their life back on track, based on the future they want to create. When people are ready, we support them to find, secure and move in to their own permanent home. No one's life should be defined

by homelessness. In our caring community, we build on each individual's abilities, increasing their confidence and self-esteem. People can get some stability, improve their health and wellbeing, and gain valuable skills, training and work experience to achieve their goals. Emmaus is a vital part of the Mossley community. Our large Secondhand Superstore is a place to find affordable furniture, household items, clothing, books, toys and more. When you shop with us and donate goods, you’re helping to sustain our charity and the support we provide to our residents. Our Secondhand Superstore gives new life to pre-loved items – reducing waste and promoting reuse. We also have a thriving café, weekly art and upcycling groups, and regular community events, helping people build social connections. Emmaus Mossley is part of a UK-wide network of Emmaus charities, supporting more than 1,000 people every year. We are also part of the global Emmaus movement for social change – operating in more than 40 countries across the world. Your ongoing support is essential to the success of Emmaus Mossley and the people we support. By donating items, shopping with us, attending our charity events and supporting us in other ways, you are directly helping people move forward in their lives. Working together, and with your support, we're ending homelessness one person at a time.

Here's a recent round-up from Positive News, a media outlet focussed on uplifting stories of progress.💚✅

Emmaus resident Marek recently captured photos of these lovely hydrangeas in the early morning sunshine. 📷🌞

Marek was drawn to their colours and the calm setting in the gardens of the old Grade II-listed Mossley Town Hall.

A shout-out and thanks must go to the volunteers at Friends of Mossley Park for maintaining these public spaces.👏👏

"This community to me, means home – security, safety and togetherness. At the moment, we have a great group of companions, staff and volunteers, and we just get on."

You will likely know Darren from your visits to the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore. He is a friendly face to many and a valued member of our community.

Darren added: "Emmaus Mossley is somewhere where I feel I belong. I feel welcome and like I belong, not just by companions, volunteers, staff and trustees but also by some of the customers and people who support us. They know what this place is about and that feeling of belonging is important to everybody here."

Darren has recently reflected on his journey at Emmaus and you can read more via the link in comments. 💚👏

A reminder that, as always, Emmaus Mossley is closed on Mondays (including every Bank Holiday Monday).

If you are looking for some family fun today though, head on up to The Vale for the final day of their summer holiday activities. ⬇️⬇️

Lunch + gig! with special guests Jubacana
Monday 31st August
12pm–1pm, followed by lunch.
The session closes at 2pm.

To celebrate our final day of summer holiday activities, we will be joined by special guests Jubacana, one of our partner youth projects based in Oldham. Chat to them after the gig about how to get involved in their group for 8–18s.

Lunch + Gig is a special live music event for school age children and young people aged 5–15. Each booked child place includes a free lunch.

The lunches are intended to support families who would benefit from free food provision during the school holidays. Everyone is welcome to enjoy music and lunch together.

One adult should attend with each booked child under the age of 11. Children aged 12–15 may attend solo, but are also able to bring along one adult.

Please note that noise levels will be high for this activity. Earplugs can be provided.

Booking is easy - just head to our website: https://the-vale.co.uk/lunch-gig/, call 01457 238089, or pop in for a chat!

Our Friday Thanks this weekend goes to seven-year-old Freddie, who is taking on a sponsored hike up Snowdon with his family to raise funds for Emmaus Mossley.

Freddie, who loves a challenge, was keen to do something positive to help people affected by homelessness and found out about Emmaus Mossley.

Freddie commented: “It makes me sad to see homeless people and I wanted to help in any way I could.”

Astoundingly, Freddie has already reached his initial fundraising target of £500, which he exceeded in only four days! He's now increased the target to £1,000 and is appealing for more people to sponsor his hike.

He will be taking on the Snowdon hike with his family on Saturday 19 September. We wish Freddie and his family the best of luck with their adventure, and a BIG thank you for supporting Emmaus Mossley!

If you'd like to read more about Freddie's story and show his some support, you can do so via the link in the comments.
