What a day 🎥✨

Yesterday’s Video Workshop was something special.

Tripods, microphones, lighting, different types of shots, b-roll, putting it all together into one video… we packed a lot into one day.

But that was kind of the point.

Not to send people away with everything figured out, but to plant the seeds. To give people enough to go away, pick up their phone, and actually start.

And that’s exactly what happened 💛

If you’ve been thinking about using video in your business but haven’t known where to begin, you’re not alone. Most people just need someone to show them the basics and the confidence to have a go.

We have lots of other workshops and support coming up, so if you’d like to be the first to hear about what’s next, sign up to our newsletter using the link in our bio 🌿

A huge thank you to everyone who came along today, and to Tim from for making it so practical, fun, and genuinely useful.

A special thank you to Emily from for supplying the most amazing lunch, and the nicest gluten free option too. And to for being such wonderful hosts on the day 💛

What a way to end the day 🌟

Last night we headed to Sunderland for our AI Marketing workshop with the brilliant , as part of our Digitising the High Street programme.

We looked at different AI tools and how to actually use them well. How to get the best out of AI without your content sounding generic or robotic 😄

The messages we received afterwards were just amazing. People left feeling genuinely inspired and ready to put it into practice.

That’s exactly what we love to see 💛

A huge thank you to Pascal for delivering such a brilliant session. And a big thank you to for hosting us so wonderfully, and for the most amazing scones again 🙌

We’re already looking forward to our online catch up in two weeks to see how everyone is getting on with the tools.

This programme is part of Digitising the High Street, delivered by Enterprising Sunderland, funded by the North East Combined Authority and Sunderland City Council.

Digitising the High Street is back in Sunderland for 2026, and we genuinely cannot wait.

The past year and a half has been something special. We've met some brilliant people, held workshops and networking events, and built something that felt more like a community than a programme.

Businesses made friends. People stopped feeling like they had to do it all on their own. Sales grew. Confidence grew. And we got to be part of it.

Now we get to do it all again. Here's what's on:
☕ Shop Talk (first up, and already open to book)
🤖 AI Marketing with Pascal
🤝 Networking at Adventure Sunderland
🎥 What Video Content Does Your Business Actually Need? with James Ibbitson
🌟 Make Your Business Impossible to Ignore with Ann English, covering visual marketing for independent retailers, designer-makers, and business owners.

Plus monthly Shop Talks and 1:1 support throughout the year.

The 1:1 sessions are specifically for Sunderland and Washington high street retail businesses. Applications are open now.

All events are open to any business.

Pop to our website and book onto workshops and events. Want to take part in the Program? Send us a message.

Tuesday was such a brilliant day and we are still smiling about it 💛

We wrapped up our 4th workshop in the Creative Enterprise Growth Programme at Newcastle Arts Centre, and the energy in that room was just incredible.

A massive thank you to the wonderful team at The Social Type for delivering such a fantastic session on social media for small businesses. You were brilliant, warm, and made everything feel so much more manageable. We are so grateful to have you as part of this programme.

Thank you to Newcastle Arts Centre for hosting us so beautifully, we always love being in that space.
And honestly, the biggest thank you goes to every single business owner who came along on Tuesday. You showed up with open minds, brilliant questions, and so much support for each other. That is what makes these days so special. You made it what it was 🌿

This is exactly why we do what we do. Real people, real businesses, growing and learning together.

The Creative Enterprise Growth Programme is a fully funded workshop series supporting creative businesses across Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, and Northumberland. Every workshop is completely free to attend, designed to be practical, and built around what small business owners actually need.

Our next workshop is fully booked but we do have a waiting list 🎥
Social Video for Small Businesses, Monday 18th May, Newcastle Arts Centre. This full day session is led by Tim Goodill, an award-winning director with over 20 years of experience. Designed for small and product-led businesses who want to start using video without the pressure of performing on camera. All you need is your phone and a willingness to give it a go.

If you would like to be added to the waiting list, drop us a message and we will be in touch as soon as a space becomes available 💛

This programme is part of Creative Central NCL, funded by the North East Combined Authority and Newcastle City Council.

We’ve got a workshop coming up on Tuesday in Newcastle.

And honestly? The response has been a lot.
We could have filled the room twice over.

That tells us something we already believed but love being reminded of. People in the North East genuinely want this. The knowledge sharing, the community, the space to sit in a room with others who get it.

This one’s a little different too. We’ve brought in the brilliant team at .type all the way from Sunderland, and attendees won’t just be hearing from one expert. They’ll have three in the room. Real one to ones alongside group conversation. Proper time and attention.

That’s what good support looks like.
We can’t wait to be in that room on Tuesday 💛

We've got some exciting news to share and we've been looking forward to this moment for a while! 💛

The brand new event space at Grainger Market is here. And honestly? It's everything we hoped it would be.

This has been over a year in the making, and we're so proud to finally be able to share it with our community.

This space is going to be a real home for local businesses and creatives here in the North East and very soon it will be the home of our Creative Growth Programme.

We'll be announcing dates and full details shortly, so keep an eye on this page. You won't want to miss it.

And if you haven't visited Grainger Market recently, please do. The new doors, the atmosphere, the brilliant local producers… the whole place just feels like it's found its feet again. It's a joy to be in.

This programme is part of Creative Central NCL, funded by the North East Combined Authority and Newcastle City Council.

We look forward to welcoming you 🌿

Last week we wrapped up our third Creative Enterprise Growth Programme workshop with the brilliant Simon Clayton from Marketing Skills Academy and what a day it was! 🙌

A full day of strategic marketing that clearly hit home...
People left with clearer marketing direction, a better understanding of their audience, stronger messaging and so much more confidence in promoting their businesses. Here's what some of them had to say...

💬 "A clearer picture/vision of marketing my business."

💬 "The three C's... clarity, confidence and communication."

Every single attendee rated the workshop 5 out of 5. We couldn't be prouder! 🌟

That's the power of being in the right room with the right people, and we get to do it all again very soon...

Last night we had the pleasure of attending Reviving the Heart of the West End and it was a fantastic evening of connection, collaboration and community. 🙌

It was wonderful to support new business owners at the start of their journey, with some great conversations about how to get started and what steps to take next. The speed-dating format worked brilliantly, and it was great to see so many people taking advantage of the free one-hour sessions available through the to explore things further.

We also had the chance to reconnect with some brilliant local businesses including Mel from and Vino from always inspiring to be around people who are doing great things in our community. 💛

Events like this are exactly why we do what we do. Supporting independent businesses, making connections and helping our local economy thrive.

If you were there last night and would like to find out more about how Market Collective can support your business, feel free to get in touch or book your free consultation with Racheal via the .

Last night we were in a room full of big names, but the message couldn’t have been more relevant for small businesses.

At an event hosted by Sunderland BID, we heard from leaders connected to Sunderland AFC, McDonald’s, Greggs and Primark in Sunderland, sharing how they use data in the day-to-day running of their organisations.

But what really stood out?

It wasn’t just spreadsheets and dashboards.
It was people.

Yes, they track footfall, buying patterns, peak times, stock movement and customer behaviour. They review daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly.

But they also survey their staff.
They ask their customers.
They listen.

Because the people behind the counter and the people walking through the doors are often the most powerful source of insight.

It is not data versus gut instinct.
It is data and gut instinct.
Numbers give you direction.
People give you context.

And for small businesses, that balance matters even more.

So many independents are busy making, serving, packing and posting. But when was the last time you stepped back and actually reflected?

Do you know:
• Your best-selling product?
• Your quietest day?
• What your customers wish you did differently?
• What your team sees that you might miss?

Data is not corporate. It is clarity.
Surveys are not formalities. They are conversations.

Your business leaves clues every single day through your numbers and your people.

The question is, are you looking and are you listening?

Such a lovely morning with two brilliant women 🤍

Spent it with Monica and Rachel, diving into product photography, the bit that can quietly knock your confidence when you’re selling online.

You can make something beautiful.
You can pour in your time, money and heart.
But if the photos don’t feel right? It hits hard.

Watching Rachel break it down in such a simple, practical way was magic. No fluff. Just real advice. And seeing that moment it clicked for Monica? That’s what it’s all about.

This is the part people don’t see.
The learning curves.
The self-doubt.
The graft behind the scenes.

We even popped out for props for a Mayfli shoot (because I’m always learning too 👀). Running a business stretches you in ways you don’t expect.

But mornings like this?
Real conversations. Real support. Real growth.

Not just shops. Not just sales.
Confidence. Skills. Community.

Together, we grow 🧡✨
