One week. So much more than we realised.

During one informal snapshot across just three of our opening days, we recorded approximately:

100 customers served

12 people signposted to other organisations and support

24 people who needed a listening ear

16 people served tea, coffee, toast or biscuits

20 visitors helped to find the right service or location

And even those figures don’t tell the whole story.

The tally was simply based on what one member of the team was able to see and record while everyone got on with the day-to-day work, so there will undoubtedly have been conversations, small acts of support and moments of connection that never made it onto the list.

That is everyday life at TVT.

Our Eco Shop is about more than affordable food.

It’s about making good food more accessible, helping surplus food reach people who can use it, and creating a friendly, welcoming place right here in Hemlington.

Whether you’re popping in to see what’s available, stopping for a chat or finding out about some of the other support and activities at Tees Valley Together, you’re always welcome.

Stock changes regularly depending on what we receive, so there’s often something different to discover each time you visit.

And every time you use the Eco Shop, you’re supporting a community-led project that helps us continue our work across Hemlington and the wider Tees Valley.

Our Eco Shop offers a range of affordable food and everyday essentials, with stock changing regularly depending on what we receive.

But remember, TVT is about much more than shopping too.

We’re here to offer a friendly welcome, a listening ear and help with signposting to other organisations and services when needed.

Whether you’re visiting the Eco Shop, looking for some information or simply want to find out more about what’s happening in the community, come in and say hello.

Something exciting is coming to Tees Valley Together…

We’ve got these tickets ready to be won, and we’re going to be using them to help raise funds to support the work we do across our community.

We’re just finalising whether we’ll run this as a raffle or a bonus ball, but we couldn’t resist giving you a little preview first.

Every pound raised helps us continue providing practical support, affordable food, community activities, signposting and a welcoming place for people to turn when they need it.

Keep an eye on our page because we’ll be sharing all the details very soon — including how to enter and how you could be taking these tickets home.

It was lovely to welcome Andrew Forsey OBE, National Director of Feeding Britain, to our Tees Valley Together Eco Shop in Hemlington recently.

Andrew visited alongside Nine Yards as part of a wider conversation about food insecurity across the Tees Valley, affordable access to good food and the role community-led projects can play in supporting local people.

Our Eco Shop is about much more than redistributing surplus food. It helps people access affordable food locally, creates opportunities for conversation and connection, and forms part of the wider support available through Tees Valley Together.

It was brilliant to have the opportunity to talk about the work happening here in Hemlington, share ideas and explore how organisations can continue working together to make an even greater difference across our communities.

A huge thank you to Nine Yards for bringing everyone together and for continuing to champion collaborative approaches to tackling food insecurity across Middlesbrough and the wider Tees Valley.

A Day on the Farm! 🐑🚜

Join us for some autumn fun at Newham Grange Farm as part of our HAF programme! 🍂

Come along, explore the farm, meet the animals and find out what happens on the farm during autumn. There’ll be lots to see, learn and enjoy, and we’ll even be visiting the pumpkin patch! 🎃

The truth is, people come through our doors for lots of different reasons.

You might need some practical support, be looking for affordable everyday items, want to find out what’s happening locally, need help finding the right service, or simply fancy a cuppa and a friendly conversation.

You don’t need to know exactly what help you need before you come in.

Sometimes it starts with a question.
Sometimes it starts with a chat.
Sometimes it’s simply having somewhere to start.

Whatever brings you to us, we’ll always do our best to listen, help and point you in the right direction.

Warm Welcome Wednesday is TOMORROW!!!

Come along to the Community Living Room at Viewley Centre between 10.30am - 12pm for a cuppa, a chat and a bit of company.

There’ll be free hot drinks, games and crafts, and the chance to speak to visiting organisations and services too.

If there’s somebody you’d particularly like us to invite along to a future session, let us know. That could be around housing, employment, training, benefits or anything else you think would be useful locally, and we’ll do our best to arrange it.

The session is completely free and everyone is welcome.
