The Settlement is one of Maryport's greatest assets. It's a beautiful, historic community space with enormous potential, and the range of activities taking place there significantly makes a difference to many people's lives. We'd love to see even more people discover what they have to offer.

As well as all of our paid courses coming up we have plenty of cheap or free activities you can take part in every month.

We want to make our venue as accessible to everyone as possible. So if you have some free time on your hands and want to offer up a skill to share please get in touch! Email Hayley on [email protected]

Looking for a Mahoosive cork board for displaying posters/flyers in the Community Gallery. For all the wonderful creative things going on in this town and local area, from art workshops to live music gigs. This board will be checked daily - posters neatly aligned with a set square 😉 and kept very up-to-date! We'll print posters/flyers from social media (with permission) and even allow AI posters (we reserve the right to cringe as we put these up).

(Good quality soft cork tiles also an option)

A huge THANK YOU 🩵 to the "Yard Team" Gayle Perkins, Joe and Richard Clements for clearing the 3ft Jungle that had grown in the Community Gallery's yard 🥰 . Still needs some TLC, pressure washing, some murals painting(?), need some benches/patio furniture - Then it's BBQ time 😁

Does anyone know a local joiner that might be happy to contribute some time to fix/upgrade a staircase? It's the 2nd floor stairs that are "rickety" in our community gallery/shop. They only lead up to a couple of small rooms on the 2nd floor - we don't need this space immediately, but we will need them for storage in about 2-4weeks. Judging by the decor I don't think these rooms have been used for decades - but we WILL need them. Any suggestions/comments appreciated, a whole new staircase would be rather pricy for the charity and money best spent on improving other resources/services for the community 🩵

Sunday is our session free day in "Art Studio 1". Just open-access all day. Pop in to paint/sketch 🎨 , sculpt with clay, or with a dozen other mediums available free for you. Or just pop in for a chat and cuppa! ☕

Also, James will be in the studio, making a list (checking it twice) of all the lovely folks, that will be helping to revamp the new community retail & maker space. Pop in just for more info and and to share your thoughts 🧠💙😘

In the next few days we're going to be asking you for things 😅

Materials, tools, furniture, skills, time... all the bits and pieces that help a community space come alive.

Payment will be made in smiles from 50 people, a warm fuzzy feeling, and a "hey, we'll invite you to the BBQ" 💙

We hope these terms are acceptable.
