We aim to help children in difficult circumstances, regardless of race, background or religion. We regularly provide grants to help children enjoy an immediate and significant improvement to their lives. We provide essentials such as shoes, school uniform and food and also help with basic esse

ntial household items, school trips, baby equipment, specialised products for less able children ... simply supporting families who are desperate for help in our local community.

This September marks 20 years of The Link Foundation helping local children and families with the everyday essentials no child should be without. ❤️

Over the past two decades, we’ve provided everything from beds and clean clothing to food, white goods, laptops and education essentials, supporting thousands of children and families across our local community.

But we know our 20 year story isn’t just about what we’ve done… it’s about the people who have been part of it. 💙

🎉 The Link Foundation is turning 20! 🎉

This September marks 20 years of The Link Foundation, 20 years of helping local children and families with the everyday things that can make such a huge difference.

Over the years, we’ve provided thousands of children with beds to sleep in, food, clean clothes, white goods and the equipment they need to learn, from laptops and school essentials to educational opportunities.

None of this happens without the incredible support of the people who donate, fundraise, volunteer and simply share what we do. 💙

And while we’re incredibly proud to have been here for 20 years, the truth is, we wish we weren’t needed. Sadly, there are still children locally going without the basics. Families struggling to put food on the table, children trying to learn without the equipment they need and bedrooms without a proper bed to sleep in.

So, as we celebrate 20 years, we’re also looking ahead. There is still work to do!

If you’ve supported The Link Foundation over the last 20 years, thank you. If you’re new to us, we’d love you to be part of the next chapter. 💙

Together, we can make sure every child has the basics they need to feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

The cost of going back to school shouldn’t be a burden. 💔📚

According to the Department for Education, parents spend an average of £343 on a primary school child’s uniform and PE kit.

For some families, that’s manageable.

For others, it’s simply impossible.

This month alone, we’ve been inundated with applications from parents desperately trying to afford the basics. Every application tells the same story: families doing everything they can, yet still falling short.

At our August funding meeting, we’ll be reviewing requests totalling thousands of pounds for school uniforms. Behind every request is a child who deserves to walk into school feeling no different from anyone else.

No parent should have to choose between buying food, paying the bills, or sending their child to school with the essentials they need.

Being there for families during some of the hardest moments of their lives is the most rewarding part of what we do.

Messages like these from the professionals who work on the front line remind us why our work matters. They witness the challenges families face every day, and together, we can make a real difference.

This month, a donation of just £250 enabled us to provide a bed for a parent and child who had been living in their car after becoming homeless and had finally been given the keys to their first home.

Meet Alex.

Alex is a bright little boy who lives with his mum, who has become seriously unwell. As her health has deteriorated, she has had no choice but to reduce her working hours. Like so many families, a drop in income has quickly turned into impossible choices between paying bills, buying food and replacing the essentials.

One of those essentials is a bed.

Alex doesn’t have a bed of his own. Each night he shares with his Mum, without a comfortable place to sleep or call his own. Something many of us take for granted has become completely out of reach for this family.

No parent wants to see their child go without, but when illness and financial hardship arrive together, even the basics can become unaffordable.

Thanks to referrals from our local partners, we’re able to step in when families reach breaking point, providing practical support that helps children feel safe, secure and ready to thrive.

Your support helps us provide beds, bedding and other essentials to children like Alex, giving them not just a better night’s sleep, but hope for brighter days ahead. 💙
