Amersham Lodge & Freemasonry in the Community

As part of Bucks Freemasonry in the Community, Members of Amersham Lodge were proud to volunteer their time in support of Macmillan Cancer Support by manning a charity collection point in their local Tesco in Amersham.

Throughout the day, there was fantastic engagement from members of the local community, whose generosity and kindness resulted in a significant amount being donated to this worthy cause. The support shown by shoppers was truly inspiring and demonstrated the strength of our community when coming together to help those affected by cancer.

The event also provided an excellent opportunity to highlight the charitable values of Freemasonry and the positive contribution that Freemasons continue to make within our local communities, not only through national initiatives but through practical support at a local level. Our members were delighted to support Macmillan and to play a small part in helping the charity continue its vital work.

A sincere thank you to everyone who stopped to chat and made a donation.

A Special Day of Celebration, Community and Charity

Yesterday, as part of W.Bro. Benge’s incredible 50 Years of Service Celebration, members and their families enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People centre in Princes Risborough.

We were given a fascinating tour of the site, learning how these amazing dogs are trained to transform the lives of deaf people and how they are carefully matched with their new owners. It was both inspiring and educational.

Following the tour, everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea buffet and the opportunity to support this fantastic charity.

We are proud to announce a total charity donation of £250, raised from the Amersham 100 Club, members, and their families on the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make the afternoon such a success.

Congratulations once again to W.Bro. Benge on reaching the remarkable milestone of 50 years of dedicated service to the Craft—a truly outstanding achievement and one worthy of celebration!

Amersham Lodge - Ready for Action!

Amersham Lodge was proud to host an outstanding evening of First Aid Training in partnership with the incredible team from South Central Ambulance Service 🚑

With nearly 20 attendees filling the room at Amersham Church Rooms, it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from members with wives, partners and family members, everyone was keen to learn skills that truly save lives.

Throughout the evening, participants gained valuable knowledge on:

❤️ Understanding the fundamentals of a heart attack and cardiac arrest.

🫁 Performing CPR safely and effectively.

⚡ Using AEDs with confidence in an emergency situation.

The session was not only informative but hands on, empowering everyone present with the confidence to act quickly and decisively when it matters most.

As a token of our appreciation, Members of Amersham Lodge were delighted to donate £150 to the South Central Ambulance Service. By the end of the evening, that amount had risen to more than £250, contributing to the organisation’s ongoing work and continued efforts.

Events like this are a powerful reminder that a little knowledge can make a life-saving difference. We’re incredibly grateful to the trainers for their time, expertise, and dedication.

Amersham Lodge 100 Club - Community and charity in action this week.

The Chairman of Amersham Lodge 100 Club, Bro. R. Piggott, attended the Bucks Football Lodge meeting yesterday (Saturday 14th March) at Chesham United, accompanied by fellow Amersham 100 Club member Bro. Morris.

During the meeting we were shown a short film and presentation from Youth Concern about the incredible work they do supporting young people aged 13–25 across Aylesbury Vale and the surrounding areas of Buckinghamshire who are going through difficult times.

The work they are doing to support vulnerable young people is truly inspiring, and like many charities they rely heavily on funding to continue providing these vital services.

On behalf of the Amersham Lodge 100 Club, Chairman was proud to present a donation of £100 to support their work. Other generous contributions were also made during the evening, including £200 from the Bucks Football Lodge, which was then matched by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Football Lodge, bringing the total donated to £500.

Youth Concern were extremely grateful for the support, and it was fantastic to see different Lodges coming together to help make a positive difference in our community.

Amersham 100 Club Supporting The Community

On Saturday 21st February, the Amersham 100 Club Committee and Members of Amersham Lodge proudly presented a donation to Chiltern Child Contact Centre as part of Freemasonry in the Community.

The Centre provides vital support to separated families, offering a safe, welcoming space where children can maintain meaningful contact with parents and loved ones during challenging times. Their compassionate work makes a real difference when families need it most.

We are incredibly proud to support such an important local service and to continue strengthening our community through charitable giving.

Well done to everyone involved in making this happen!

Amersham Members Winter Blues Walk

Members of Amersham Lodge shrugged off the winter blues and braved the elements to take part in the first Winter Blues Walk. Despite the rain, the walk proved both enjoyable and refreshing, winding through the quieter back areas of Beaconsfield and offering plenty of good conversation along the way.

The soggy conditions did little to dampen spirits and the outing was rounded off perfectly with a well earned drink.

Raising funds for the Royal Marines Charity – The L.A.S.E.R. Guided Method

A transformational book by W.Bro. Alex Thomson-Bray:

Alex is a member of Amersham Lodge, in Buckinghamshire province. He wrote this book because fear tried its best to define his life until he refused to let it. He grew up facing childhood violence, trauma, poverty, homelessness, and being told by society that he was not worthy of becoming anything of value, but he refused to accept this. When the opportunity to join the Royal Marines arose, he wasn’t the typical candidate, but he knew that stepping up and overcoming his fear, instead of running away from it, was his only path forward to fix what was broken and to build what was not yet built.

Alex’s time in the Corps taught him resilience, purpose, and how to turn fear into strength. And now, with his son having also recently passed out of Commando training with the Royal Marines, Alex’s bond to the Corps family has been renewed and further strengthened. As a Freemason, he feels this is a perfect opportunity to give back.

The L.A.S.E.R. Guided method is a structured guide built on those lessons. Alex’s mission is to help as many people as possible overcome their own obstacles and build a life they’re proud of. All profits from the first 1,000 copies of the book sold, will be donated to the Royal Marines Association (RMA) in gratitude for the role the Corps played in his (And now his son’s) life and in recognition of the amazing work the RMA does for currently serving and former members AND their families.

This is more than a book, It’s a legacy of service, resilience and giving back.

Fantastic day for Amersham Lodge!

Members turned out in force at Gerrards Cross Tesco to proudly support the Macmillan Charity.

It was a wonderful opportunity to back a national charity at a local level, engage with the community and demonstrate Freemasonry in action beyond the walls of the temple.

A great day of service, fellowship and charity.
