Our AGM was held last week providing us with a reminder of exactly what we have achieved during the Rotary year which started on 1 July 2025. We have done a lot.

Marlow Santa’s Fun Run 2025 was a big success – with 3000 entrants and £106,110 raised for charity from all sources.

By the end of this Rotary year we will have welcomed 3 new members.

Yet again, through the fundraising of three incredible events that we organise/participate in each year, Santa’s Fun Run, Burns Night and Marlow Tastes, we have brought in record amounts. This allows us to continue supporting great local events and distribute more to charities than we have done before.

We have had fun too – including two theatre trips, an evening picnic at Accessible Boating including boat trips. We also had an evening walk along the Santa Fun Run route and a skittles evening at Flackwell Heath Bowls club.

And our presence in the community continues. This weekend we will be helping out at the Marlow Town Regatta and Festival. Look out for the Rotarians with High Viz tabards, helping to allow the community to enjoy the festivities, the rowing, and fun Dragon Boat racing on Sunday. Today, 1 June marks the start of Volunteers’ Week in the UK, and we wanted to take this opportunity to send a big THANK YOU to all those who have given their time, talents and enthusiasm on all the occasions we’ve been out there in the community.

We’re proud to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week 2026 – marking 42 years of saying thank you to all volunteers across the UK for everything they do for society. .

There’s no one way to volunteer but we regularly have opportunities for you to do so. Without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Thank you to each and every one of you. And if you would like to find out where and how you can help us, just contact us here or via our website at

Always great to help out and what better opportunity than to volunteer to help at the opening of the Lane End Play Area on Friday. A great time for the children to enjoy playing on the apparatus, have faces painted, visit the bouncy castle. Makes volunteering lots of fun.

Appropriate with this week being Dementia Awareness week, a presentation by Jan Sambrook and Jenny Miles on Wednesday provided an insight into their work within Dementia Action Marlow supporting friends with dementia and particularly their carers. They have 30 volunteers and are hoping to have the support of an Admiral Nurse who is trained by Dementia UK. A great insight into how they have progressed since 2020 when they were formed after the Making Marlow Dementia Friendly initiative led by the then Rotary Club of Marlow Bridge. More can be found on their website at:

Dementia Action for Marlow (DAM) is an unincorporated volunteer group specifically set up for those people who are living with dementia and their carers.

Great news. We raised £20 000 at Marlow Tastes last week. Great to support the two main charities who also helped on the night. And congratulations to Vaasu - the restaurant voted Best Restaurant and Best Main Course by those attending. Thanks again to all.

Our Marlow Tastes 2026 took place on Tuesday, 28 April.

After a reception of bubbly and canapes, the nearly 500 guests left for their first course having no idea where they were going!!! It takes a lot of planning to ensure that the right people are in the right place at the right time. But getting those logistics right resulted in a great culinary evening out for them across nine restaurants - a different restaurant for each course.

Marlow Tastes also raises a lot of money for charity. Our two main charities this year were Horizon Sports Club and Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity. They brought a lot of volunteers to supplement members of the Rotary Club of Marlow Thames and their families. It takes around 80 volunteers to make the event the success that it was. A huge thank you goes out to all of them for all that they did on the night.

We also thank our sponsors Macbeth Insurance Brokers, B P Collins Solicitors and Savills Marlow Estate Agents.

DAVID SHAW, JON PERRY and IAN HARTSTONE of The Marlow Camera Club were on hand to record the evening. Thank you to them for allowing us to reflect back via the images.
