Worth a Butchers or ("WAB") is an annual public house competition conducted in Maidstone in July or August. With a team of between 10 and 20 individuals, WAB mark each establishment out of 100 points in 5 categories; Atmosphere, Real Ale, Facilities, Friendliness & Value for Money. For a full guide of the aspects considered in each of these categories, refer to the "Judging" page. Bonus marks are

also given to pubs holding 'Freehouse' status. Award certificates are presented for each category and for the top three places attained overall. The Swan, of County Road currently holds first place, with 373 out of a possible 500 points.
