Thursday Cubs Ready Steady Cook evening. Each Six cooked a main & dessert starting with 5 random ingredients. We went through food groups, healthy eating and cooking hygiene the week before. Unbelievably proud of what they achieved.
Red Six Pizza Rolls (quesadillas) & pancakes with cinnamon apples & whipped cream.
Green Six Avocado salad & pancakes with caramelised apple & ice cream.
Blue Six Vegetable Curry & pancakes with sauce & ice cream.
Yellow Six Bruschetta with sautéed potatoes and pancakes with banana & sauce. And they did some of the washing up too 👏

A great weekend for both our cub packs and Tovil and Park Wood cub packs at Tovil Scout HQ for a Super Hero themed sleepover. We made super hero masks, capes & pants, painted infinity stones (rock painting), made Wakandan (Black Panther) bracelets, threw Thor’s hammer (Tomahawk throwing), joined Hawkeye practicing (archery), made superhero badges, learnt some pioneering skills and cooked cakes in mud ovens. Sunday morning they had to find their own infinity stones hidden around the grounds.

Thank you to all the leaders and young leaders that helped out and Tovil Scout Group for the use of their site. The cubs had so much fun and made new friends. Let’s start planning the next one and make it an annual event.

Anual scout camp 2026
Arrived safely Saturday afternoon camp all set up.
Sunday a lovely cooked brunch followed be a walk.
Roast pork, potatoes carrots peas Yorkshire pudding stuffing with plenty of gravy.
Peach crumble and custard.

Had the pleasure of going to our Friday Scout Troop yesterday to present Chief Scout Silver awards to two scouts who have recently moved from our
Thursday Cub pack. Well done & congratulations to you both. Jim, the scout leader, decided to photo bomb 🙄😂

A Bitter-Sweet Farewell from Wednesday Cubs!

Well, the time has come. This will be my final post as a leader for St Luke’s Wednesday Cubs.

Looking back, I have had the absolute privilege of watching some truly incredible young people grow, learn, and achieve great things. To all the Cubs I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with: you are all absolutely amazing.

To show you just how incredible they are, I wanted to share some photos of our packed final term. We have been very busy making memories!

🌟 Our Term Highlights⭐️
High-Adrenaline Adventures: Kayaking, caving, and climbing.
Hands-On Skills: Mastering pioneering, orienteering, map work, and cooking up a storm with delicious pancakes.
Creative Minds: Crafting special Father’s Day and Mother’s Day gifts and listening to our talented Cubs play their musical instruments.
Exploring & Having Fun: A fantastic group trip to Bodiam Castle, hot summer days pond dipping, and an epic battle at Laser Quest.

⛺ The Ultimate Campout ⛺️
We wrapped up the term with a brilliant camp, which gave us one of my favorite memories:
We spent hours putting up tents as a "backup plan" just in case... only for every single Cub (and leader!) to sleep out under the tarps instead. The tents went completely unused, and it was absolutely perfect.

Thank you to the parents for your endless support, to the leadership team, and most of all, to the Cubs. You have made this journey unforgettable.

On 10th May St. Luke’s Scout Group went by coach to Tenterden and then by steam train to Bodiam Castle. 100 of us had a wonderful day exploring an remembering our friend Peter Taylor who loved the Scouts and the Kent and East Sussex Railway. First time out for our new Squirrel section. So proud of our Group and all our adult volunteers.
