On 10th May St. Luke’s Scout Group went by coach to Tenterden and then by steam train to Bodiam Castle. 100 of us had a wonderful day exploring an remembering our friend Peter Taylor who loved the Scouts and the Kent and East Sussex Railway. First time out for our new Squirrel section. So proud of our Group and all our adult volunteers.

And we’re back. After cooked breakfast to warm us up, the scouts set to a morning of site service work, and packing down so we were ready to leave on time.
We also invested 2 scouts into the troop this weekend.
The minibus played nice and got our kit home with no fuss, though it requires some TLC.

Well done to the scouts for coping with the weather conditions overnight and for making this a good camp.

Thanks to Jim & Matt for their help on the weekend and Asa for assisting with packing on Friday.

Not the best start to camp- 3jhr breakdown at Lidl on the way to Hamlet Wood.

The scouts did well with their pioneering skills building a suspension bridge, a first for us.

They ensured we had an adequate supply of wood to cook their evening meal and polished off 3 full Dutchies of cottage pie.

In a close battle, Alfie’s Fishbar (Sandling Road) narrowly beat Cornfords (Penenden Heath) for value and taste.

Yesterday at cubs we had the honour of seeing the amazing Raksha presented with her 10 year award for volunteering in scouting. Raksha has now retired from scouting & St Luke’s but hopefully she will visit us now and then. Congratulations on your award.

We also had presentations of volunteering awards for our 2 amazing young leaders who have clocked up over 500 volunteer hours each helping with various sections at St Luke’s. Thank you for your time and valued input for our sections & congratulations on your awards.
