At Pegasus we have a committee of volunteers called The Friends of Pegasus. We are a group of parents, grandparents and carers who work hard to raise funds and support the club in many different areas. This page is intended to give you a broad idea of what ‘The Friends’ do. The club has grown massively recently and the demand for volunteer help and fundraising has also grown. The gym is not a busi
ness, it has a Charity status, which means that it is run on a non profit making capacity. All money that we raise goes towards the development of the children within the gym. This could be a piece of equipment that we buy, or other essential items that the gym need to improve performance and enjoyment for our children. All of this money raised is extremely important and is appreciated by the ‘Board of Directors’ and ‘Coaching staff’ at the gym as “an integral part of our success”. We hold various fundraising events throughout the year including a Second hand kit and refreshment sale. Our Social Events calendar is expanding more and more with various events including The Annual Pegasus Ball which is held in a local Hotel. This is an enormous success each year and we invite all friends and family to come along to wine, dine and dance until the early hours. The Friends also help with two major club run events which are The Pegasus Annual Festival and the Pegasus Open. The Festival is a celebration for every gymnast member, from all ability ranges, to show off their skills to a packed audience of friends and family – A proud day for all. The Pegasus Open is a major artistic competition which attracts competitors from gym clubs nationally and internationally. We are also asked to help with various County events run at the gym by Kent Gymnastics, including refreshments and judge’s lunches. As you can see, we are a busy group of committee members and volunteers. However, more people make light work for everyone else. In many instances, ‘We help to make these ‘logistically challenging’ events happen’. So please spread the word if you feel there any other potential ‘helpers’ who you may think would be willing to volunteer as well. Please contact the Friends on [email protected] with any ideas or suggestions that you may want to share. We hold committee meetings once a month so perhaps come along to one of these to find out what’s coming up! We look forward to meeting all members!
