This walk is part of Maidstone's Big Day Out - a celebration of the borough's green and wild spaces.

Doggos of Oaken Wood

These lovely pooches had a great time on our community walk today!
It's also a reminder for us that this woodland isn't just a vital ecosystem, but also a much-loved community amenity, where dogs, horse riders, cyclists, ramblers and runners immerse themselves in the natural world, which is fast fading with all the local development.
So important for wellbeing.

A wonderful turnout for our Spring Walk today!!
What a lovely day for our walk around Oaken Wood today and it was great to see so many new faces from our community of friends, invested in saving this ancient woodland. Thank you so much for coming and thank you Sandra, for leading!

The air was filled with birdsong and the sight of bluebells and other Spring flowers in profusion was lovely.
It's beyond belief that this vitally important habitat, home to a broad diversity of species including a significant dormouse population is under threat all for... crushed rock! ...
Once lost, lost forever
Watch this space for our next walk and maybe next time, some KCC councillors would agree to join us, to see just what is at stake.. you will be most welcome. Our invitation still stands 💚🌿🌱
